The Netherlands have confirmed their 26-man squad for Euro 2024 after removing four players from the provisional squad.

The Dutch qualified for the tournament behind France and another showdown with Les Blues awaits in a tough Group D. The Netherlands will also face in-form Austria and Poland – who they meet in their opener on June 16.

Koeman’s side fell in the round of 16 three years ago and while they are not among the favorites to claim the prize, their array of talented players means they can pull off some surprises.

After initially announcing a preliminary 30-man squad earlier this month, Koeman and his staff have now reduced the squad to just 26 players.

One of the four players dropped from the squad is Chelsea loanee Ian Maatsen, who spent the second half of the season at Borussia Dortmund.

Despite his impressive performances in Germany – where they reached the Champions League final – the 22-year-old did not make the final squad.

In addition to Maatsen, the three other players will miss the tournament: Nick Olij, Quinten Timber and Marten de Roon.

Timber is the brother of Arsenal player Jurrien Timber – who also missed the squad due to his long-term injury in 2023/24 – and has impressed in the Netherlands.

However, there are still a number of Premier League stars in Koeman’s squad for the tournament.

Liverpool’s Virgil Van Dijk will lead the team, alongside Anfield colleagues Cody Gakpo and Ryan Gravenberch.

Tottenham’s Micky van de Ven, Manchester City’s Nathan Ake and Brighton’s Bart Verbruggen are also included in the star-studded defence.

Former Premier League favorites Georginio Wijnaldum, Steven Bergwijn, Wout Weghorst and Daley Blind are also part of the squad heading to Germany.

Elsewhere, Bayer Leverkusen full-back Jeremy Frimpong could be the key to Dutch success this summer after a stunning season in Germany.
