Eagle-eyed fans of Bluey have finally discovered the era of Bandit: the patriarch of the beloved cartoon blue heels.

Viewers took to social media to share that they found out Bandit is 45.

The crucial detail was revealed in a short scene during last week’s “Browny Bear” mini-episode.

The segment shows Bandit’s driver’s license with date of birth as October 25, 1978.

It also reveals that his full name is Bandit Custard Heeler.

Since the show first debuted in 2018, fans have been wondering how old Bandit, father to Bluey, seven, and Bingo, five, is.

Both child characters have only had one birthday in six years on the show, which fans are asking on X [Twitter] for the exact year the show is set in.

“We can get confirmation of what year the show is taking place using the official Bluey Twitter account,” one frustrated viewer pleaded.

This is despite the fact that Bandit’s driver’s license states that it was issued in 2022 and expires in 2025.

Meanwhile, other fans saw a real connection between Bandit and one of the show’s performers.

‘Naturally [Bandit’s birthday] is a nod to Bandit’s voice actor, David McCormack,” one commenter wrote.

‘[Bandit’s] birthday, October 25, is David McCormack’s actual birthday!! Smart!’

Bluey recently reached a milestone, becoming the most streamed TV series in all of America in 2024.

According to Nielsen Media Research, the world-famous ABC Kids series was watched 35 billion minutes among American viewers this year.

Executive producer Daley Pearson took to social media on Tuesday to celebrate the global success of his TV series.

“Bluey is now the most watched show (of all) in America for 2024. How incredible. With 35 billion viewing minutes this year,” Pearson wrote.

Meanwhile, the US Embassy in Australia responded to Pearson’s post to congratulate his team on their success: ‘All our kids love it (and now use the word dunny)! Congratulations!’

Bluey, which is streaming in America on Disney+, narrowly beat out competition including House of the Dragon, Grey’s Anatomy and Family Guy.

The Aussie cartoon was also the second most streamed show in America in 2023, just behind legal drama Suits.

It follows reports that children in the United States begin speaking with a distinctly Australian tinge after tuning in to Bluey.

The cartoon has become wildly popular in the US after premiering on Disney Channel, Disney Junior and Disney+ in September 2019.

In 2020, The New York Times described the show as ‘the biggest Australian export since The Wiggles’ – the country’s most famous children’s band.

Staying true to its real-life roots, the cartoon is packed with ‘g’day’ greetings and unmistakably Australian phrases like ‘show us your thongs, muffin!’
