Trump proposes terrifying solution to end violent crime in the US… and observers fear he has taken from The Purge

Donald Trump proposed a shocking, one-time solution to America’s crime problems that some say resembles the popular horror movie series The Purge.

At a rally on Sunday in Pennsylvania, Trump cited recent incidents of daylight robberies that took place at local businesses, suggesting criminals “need to be taught a lesson” and proposing a quick and easy way to do so.

‘If you had one really violent day. In a tough hour – and I mean really tough – the word would get out and it would end immediately,” Trump said.

He said the crime problem exists because police are “not allowed to do their job” because Kamala Harris and “the liberal left won’t allow it.”

The speech led many to suggest that what Trump is proposing is the plot of the film series The Purge.

Journalist Brian Krassenstein asked, “Did Trump just propose The Purge?”

Armand Domalewski said, “Trump is literally proposing The Purge lmao.”

Another social media user wrote: ‘[Trump’s] campaign will try to put a spin on this, but that’s exactly what it sounds like.”

The premise of the first Purge film, released in 2013, is that America has a 24-hour period in which all crime is legal.

What Trump wants to do is give police an unlimited pass to tackle any kind of crime for just “one violent day” and possibly even for just an hour.

The third film in the franchise, released in 2016 and titled ‘Purge: Election Year’, uses Trump’s campaign slogan ‘Keep America Great’ as the film’s tagline.

Trump has spoken out against migrant crime, especially in places like Aurora, Colorado, where rumors of a Venezuelan gang breaking into apartment complexes have gone viral.

“They’re invading with weapons that exceed even military reach and they’re taking over apartment buildings,” Trump said of Aurora in North Carolina last week. “They are literally taking over those cities.”

The mayor has said the rhetoric has been exaggerated and that his city has been used to score cheap political points.

Trump escalated his personal attacks on his Democratic rival, Kamala Harris, at Sunday’s rally by repeating the insult that she was “mentally retarded” while also saying she should be “impeached and prosecuted.”

Trump’s rally in Erie took on similar themes to an event a day earlier, which he himself described as a “dark speech.”

He told a cheering crowd Sunday that Harris was responsible for an “invasion” at the U.S.-Mexico border and that “she should be impeached and prosecuted for her actions.”

“Crooked Joe Biden became mentally disabled,” he added. ‘Sad. But honestly, I believe Kamala Harris was born that way. There’s something wrong with Kamala. And I just don’t know what it is, but there’s definitely something missing. And you know what, everyone knows it.’

At the Erie rally, Trump said the “invasion” would end and deportations would begin if he came to power.

“Thousands of migrants from the most dangerous countries are destroying the character of small towns and leaving local communities in fear and despair,” he said, speaking of communities in battleground states Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania.

With just over a month until the election, Trump is stepping up his use of personal and offensive attacks, even as some Republicans say he could better stick to the issues.

His suggestions to prosecute political enemies are particularly notable because of their departure from US norms in which the justice system should be protected from political influence.

In recent weeks, Trump has threatened to sue Google for prioritizing “good stories” about Harris and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

Trump has long threatened legal action against his rivals, including President Joe Biden and his 2016 rival, Hillary Clinton.

This month he pledged to jail those “engaged in unconscionable behavior” during these elections, including election workers, lawyers, political operatives, donors and voters, as he again sought to sow doubt about the integrity of the election.

On Sunday, he acknowledged that he could lose in November: “If she wins, it won’t be very pleasant for me, but I don’t care.”

Trump has ridiculed Harris, the first Black woman and person of South Asian descent to lead a major party, as “stupid,” “weak,” “dumb as a rock” and “lazy.”

His allies have publicly and privately pushed him to talk about the economy, immigration and other issues instead.

Harris has not commented on Trump’s recent attacks, but when asked about other comments said it was the “same old show.” The same tired playbook we’ve heard for years, with no plan for how he would meet the needs of the American people.”

Ahead of Sunday’s rally, some Trump supporters said he often makes offensive comments.

Still, they support his proposals to limit immigration and say he would have better control of the economy.

Last month, the Republican leader said he was “entitled” to personal attacks on Harris.

“As far as the personal attacks are concerned, I am very angry with her for what she has done to the country,” he said at a news conference at the time. ‘I am very angry with her that she wants to use the legal system against me and other people, very angry with her. I think I’m entitled to personal attacks.’
