Candace Cameron Bure shares heartbreaking tribute to father-in-law: ‘I loved this man so very much’

    The family of Candace Cameron Bure is in mourning following the passing of her father-in-law, Vladimir Bure.

    The actress announced the sad news in an Instagram post on Wednesday, September 4, confessing, “Our hearts are broken and we mourn the loss of Val’s father Vladimir Bure.”

    The cover photo shows Vladimir, who was 73 when he died, between his two sons, Cameron Bure’s husband Valeri Bure and Pavel Bure, both of whom went on to become global hockey stars in both the National Hockey League (NHL) and in their native Russia.

    ‘To me he represented not only the gift of life (my husband) for which I am eternally grateful, but also a gift of strength, dedication, motivation, resilience, willpower and love, the Full hall The 48-year-old former student continued her tribute.

    “To me, he was the embodiment of every one of those words, somehow a little bit superhuman,” she wrote.

    Candace Bure would later highlight some of the many accomplishments he achieved during his lifetime.

    “Vladimir was a four-time Olympic medalist in swimming and coached the two-time Stanley Cup-winning New Jersey Devils,” she wrote alongside several photos of Vladimir alone, including one of his swimming competitions and the NHL photo of him.

    The native of Norilsk, Krasnoyarsk Krai, Russian SFSR, USSR was a freestyle swimmer who represented the Soviet Union at the 1968, 1972 and 1976 Olympic Games, winning four medals: one in the individual 100 m and three in the relay.

    In addition, Bure was a two-time European champion and a 17-time Soviet champion. He also won two silver medals at the 1973 and 1975 World Championships.

    To highlight his many achievements in the water, there is also an old black and white photo of Vladimir celebrating in the pool after a race.

    As previously mentioned, he was also a world-class fitness coach, working for the New Jersey Devils’ two championship teams.

    To increase his sons’ chances, Vladimir and his boys moved from their native Russia to Los Angeles in 1991. There, he continued to train and coach them in hockey and physical fitness.

    All that hard work paid off as Pavel, 53, played for the Central Red Army team for three years and then spent 12 seasons in the NHL, playing for the Vancouver Canucks, Florida Panthers and New York Rangers.

    The 50-year-old Valeri ultimately played 10 seasons in the NHL, with the Montreal Canadiens, Calgary Flames, Florida Panthers, St. Louis Blues and Dallas Stars.

    In addition to photos from her childhood, the Fuller House star also added two photos of herself sharing sweet moments with Vladimir, one of which shows them embracing.

    “He was a proud father, grandfather, husband and dedicated coach. Most of all, I know how much he loved his family,” Cameron Bure concluded. “Thank you for keeping the entire Bure family in our prayers as we grieve. We love you Vladimir, and you will be in our hearts forever.”

    Her post included an older photo of Vladimir with his two sons, Pavel Bure and Valeri, to whom Candace has been married for 28 years.

    “Our hearts are broken as we mourn the loss of Val’s father Vladimir Bure. I loved this man so very much. To me, he represented not only the gift of life (my husband) for which I am eternally grateful, but also a gift of strength, dedication, motivation, resilience, willpower and love. In my mind, he was the embodiment of each of those words, somehow a little bit superhuman,” she wrote.

    Candance went on to highlight Vladimir’s remarkable accomplishments. “Vladimir was a 4x Olympic medalist in swimming and a 2x Stanley Cup winning coach for the New Jersey Devils,” she wrote alongside a few photos of Vladimir alone, including one at one of his swim meets and the NHL image he is remembered in.

    Vladimir was a four-time Olympic medalist in swimming, winning one at the 1968 Mexico City Games and three more at the 1972 Munich Games. He also served as a fitness consultant for the New Jersey Devils from 1999 to 2010. During his tenure, the team won the Stanley Cup in 2000 and 2003.

    In addition to photos from his childhood, the Fuller House star added two photos alongside her father-in-law. One was a sweet snap of them embracing, while the other showed them dancing.

    “He was a proud father, grandfather, husband, and dedicated coach. Most of all, I know how much he loved his family. Thank you for keeping the entire Bure family in your prayers as we grieve ‍��������. We love you Vladimir , and you will forever be in our hearts,” Candace concluded.

    Several people expressed their condolences to the Bure family in Candace’s comments, including the Great American Family network account.

    “We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of your father-in-law, Candace,” the comment read. “Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time. We wish you strength, comfort and peace as you cope with this loss.”

    Candace and Valeri’s daughter, Natasha Valerievna, 26, also paid tribute to her late grandfather in her Sept. 4 Instagram Stories.

    “My incredible Dedushka Rest in peace. I have endless love for you and for giving my Papa,” she wrote above the same photo Candance posted of Valeri and Vladimir. “Dedushka” is the Russian word for “grandfather.”

    Candace and Valeri are also parents to Lev, 24, and Maksim, 22.
