Billionaire’s estranged wife makes wild claim about his pregnant new fiancée as they squabble over his money

The estranged wife of billionaire hedge fund manager John Paulson claims his new fiancée’s pregnancy was part of an “arbitrary plan” to plunder his $5.1 billion fortune.

Paulson, who has two daughters in college with his wife Jenny Paulson, reportedly informed his children of the pregnancy via a text message that included a link to an exclusive story from Page Six.

In a recent court document, Jenny’s lawyer argues that the unborn baby is part of a “contrived plan” to give her fiancée Alina de Almeida, 36, access to “marital assets” and to “pit” a new child against the 68-year-old billionaire’s two daughters.

The couple’s divorce proceedings began in 2021 after Jenny discovered that Paulson was in a relationship with De Almeida.

Paulson has since proposed to De Almeida and is attempting to deny Jenny’s legal action to reveal the trusts holding his assets.

A source close to Paulson told Page Six that his daughters knew about the pregnancy before Page Six’s announcement. However, Jenny’s legal team, led by influential divorce attorney Robert Cohen, has filed an amended complaint.

Earlier this month, de Almeida told Page Six that she and Paulson were “very excited” about the upcoming arrival of their child. She explained that the pregnancy was “something we planned” and that she believed Paulson would be a great father.

In her amended complaint, Jenny argues that the pregnancy violates the Family Relations Act because it creates a situation where a child born out of wedlock could potentially receive benefits from the trust fund.

“Mr. Paulson has now acted unilaterally to plan and expand that class of beneficiaries to include a child born out of wedlock to another woman and — because of the terms of the trust — has created a situation where the mother of that child can also claim distributions from the trust,” Jenny’s complaint states.

A source familiar with the matter questioned whether Paulson or de Almeida considered the potential financial benefits of having a child outside of marriage during the divorce proceedings.

“Did Mr. Paulson and his girlfriend consider, as part of what she called the ‘plan’ to conceive, that having a child out of wedlock during the divorce proceedings might be financially beneficial to the girlfriend?” the source told PageSix.

The case alleges that Paulson broke the law by starting a new family while still married to Jenny.

“Seizing marital property and giving it to someone else, including your new girlfriend, is the definition of a violation of the Caregiver Relationships Act,” the document states.

“By adding another beneficiary and … allowing Mr. Paulson’s new girlfriend, with whom he has no legal relationship, to request distributions from the Trust on behalf of the new beneficiary, Mr. Paulson has created further discord, pitting the children of his marriage against his future children and girlfriend.”

Paulson’s attorney, Marilyn Chinitz, denies the allegations and accuses Jenny of trying to “enrich” herself at the expense of her children.

“Despite the fact that she will still be one of the wealthiest women in the world after this divorce, Jenny continues to insist on taking her children’s money to enrich herself because she finds it humiliating that her daughters are worth more than she is due to the irrevocable trusts set up for the children,” the attorney said in a statement.

“John has moved on with his personal life and I hope Jenny does the same, rather than spending years in unnecessary litigation.”

Chinitz believes the trusts will ensure that Paulson and Jenny’s children will be financially secure for generations to come.
