Cate Blanchett shared a sweet moment with her nine-year-old daughter Edith before walking the red carpet at the Venice Film Festival on Wednesday.

The actress, a regular at the annual event, attended the star-studded premiere of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, but not before taking in the festivities with her baby daughter.

Cate and Edith were spotted watching the red carpet from a balcony, snuggling up and enjoying the spectacular view.

Later, Cate attended the premiere, where she looked stunning in a champagne-colored Armani Privé gown, accessorized with a statement Louis Vuitton necklace made from repurposed pearls and diamonds.

Cate has four children with her husband Andrew Upton: sons Dashiell, 22, Roman, 20, and Ignatius, 16, and daughter Edith.

She previously admitted that her children are “not interested” in her fame, “in the best, healthiest way possible.”

Cate and her husband adopted Edith in 2015. At the time, the actress spoke about her sons’ close bond with their little sister, saying she found it “extraordinary.”

“I think it’s extraordinary to see how they’ve come together as a unit. And a very welcoming unit,” she told the Sydney Morning Herald in 2015. “I’m very proud of them.”

She also explains how she and Andrew first discussed the possibility of adoption twenty years ago.

“We actually started having the conversation a long time ago, after our first son was born and he was almost 14,” she told Women in the World’s Tina Brown, shortly after adopting Edith in 2015.

‘And then we had two more children and it disappeared from the radar.’

Cate also stressed that the decision to adopt Edith was not based on a desire to have a girl after having three sons. She explained:

‘I felt we had space, enough emotional space in our hearts and that we had the privilege to be able to have another child, so it wasn’t about biology.

“It wasn’t about wanting to have a girl, the gender of the children was never really important to me,” she added. “It was more about their spirit.”
