Linda Kosuda-Bigazzi, 76, died by suicide after ingesting antifreeze, officials confirmed. She was found at her Connecticut home on 24 July, hours before her sentencing for her husband’s murder.
State police responded to her home that morning after an individual reported they couldn’t contact her. The Connecticut Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined her death was due to ethylene glycol toxicity.
Kosuda-Bigazzi had admitted to first-degree manslaughter in March for the 2017 death of her husband, Pierluigi Bigazzi, 84. Police discovered his body in the basement of their Burlington home during a welfare check requested by his employer, who had not heard from him for months.

She also confessed to first-degree larceny for continuing to receive her husband’s salary after his death. Checks from his employer were deposited into their joint account from July 2017 until his body was found in February 2018.
Under a plea deal, Kosuda-Bigazzi was to receive a 13-year prison sentence. Her sentencing hearing was set for 2 p.m. on the day she died.
Patrick Tomasiewicz, her attorney, expressed sorrow over her death, stating she was always in control of her destiny and that they had diligently defended her in a complex case for six years.
Kosuda-Bigazzi had been free on bail, set at over $1.5 million, while awaiting sentencing. Her husband’s death was ruled a homicide caused by blunt force trauma to the head. Handwritten documents found at the home claimed she killed him in self-defence.
