Pokémon voice actress Rachael Lillis, who played the characters Misty and Jessie in the beloved series, has died at the age of 46.

“Rachael was an extraordinary talent, a beacon of light that shone through her voice, both in speaking and singing,” Taylor said.

She will forever be remembered for the many animated roles she played, with her iconic performances as Pokémon Misty and Jessie being the most beloved.

“I’m not sure how this dark void will be filled now that her light no longer shines in it.”

Misty’s character had a short orange ponytail and traveled with Ash, specializing in water-type Pokémon in the series that launched in 1996.

Jessie is a member of the rival Team Rocket, who often followed Ash and his friends in attempts to steal his Pikachu.

Her sister, Laurie Orr, reported in a GoFundMe update that Lillis’ health has declined over the past week.

“This was unexpected and we are in total mourning. My heart breaks as I lose my sweet little sister, but I find comfort in knowing she is free,” Orr said.

“She remembered many of you she had met at conferences, for example, and told us stories about the experience and all the people she had met.”
