Dutch sprinter Femke Bol went viral on social media just minutes after she scored an incredible goal for the United States in the 4x400m – thanks to the sound of her voice.
Bol, who ran her best race ever, the 400m hurdles, ran her final lap in an incredible time of 47.93 seconds in the pouring rain. The Netherlands won the race in 3 minutes and 7.43 seconds, 0.31 seconds ahead of the United States.
This led to a video from March surfacing on X in which Bol spoke to the BBC after setting the world record for the indoor 400 metres.
“I swear if you close your eyes you can convince yourself that Mickey Mouse just broke the indoor 400m world record for the Netherlands,” the post read, adding: “I saw this last night and she just seems like an incredible, kind person and it’s an amazing achievement.
‘But yes, this is all I could think of. Femke Bol, you are fantastic.’

One user replied: ‘She is the sweetest and I like this comment too. If you close your eyes and listen you can hear Mickey talking.’
Some fans criticized the X user in question for the joke about Bol, to which another follower responded: ‘A few reactions that don’t seem to realize that you can admire someone and make a joke about them at the same time.’
And on Saturday, the sports world was wildly enthusiastic about Bol’s stunning victory.
“I’m sorry that Femke Bol is a ridiculous, absolutely ridiculous athlete,” said one fan on X, while another wrote: “Femke Bol is probably my favorite athlete of the last 2 years! She’s just from another world!”
Another fan posted on X: ‘Femke Bol on a last 200m attack is one of the most amazing things in sports. Extraordinarily good.’
And luckily for the millions of Bol fans watching on television, Saturday isn’t the only chance to see her compete in France.
Bol will be back on the track on Sunday for the opening round of the women’s 400m hurdles, a competition generally considered her strongest event.
