The show pairs a host of famous faces with professional chefs who mentor them in an attempt to transform them from amateur to expert in a matter of weeks.

Carol stars alongside model Abbey Clancy and comedian Katherine Ryan in the hit series, which is presented by Emma Willis and Tom Allen.

The media personality revealed that she “doesn’t like cooking anymore” and signed up to get some inspiration.

Carol, who is divorced with two adult children, said: ‘I used to cook all the time, but I stopped about 10 years ago.

“I think I got tired of cooking for the kids, my mom and the family. The knowledge is there, but I’m not that into it anymore, so my motivation is to start cooking again.”

Carol posted her cooking exploits on Instagram, but viewers were less than impressed with the hygiene standards on the show.

The presenter, who teamed up with Scottish restaurateur Tony Singh, made salmon coulibiac (salmon in puff pastry) with a champagne reduction in the first episode, but despite the impressive dish, fans were more concerned about her hair.

Carole decided not to tie her hair up while busy in the kitchen, leading to a flood of complaints from fans online:

‘Does it bother anyone else that the celebrities on #Cookingwiththestars don’t have their hair pulled back? All I see is a pan full of loose hair #Cookingwiththestars #itv.’

Since January, the presenter has also presented her own programme on LBC, after leaving the BBC over social media disputes.

The star criticized the company at the time for “wanting to restrict people’s private activities.”

The former Countdown star left her show on BBC Radio Wales in 2023, saying she was ‘not prepared to lose her voice’ after the corporation introduced new social media guidelines.

Carol, who has been openly critical of the government on social media, claims she was “fired” by the company without “any discussion being had about it”.
