A mother who dressed her five-year-old daughter in white was shocked when the jealous bride angrily confronted her.
The mother explained that her daughter has a very close relationship with her brother, the groom, and that she was very happy to be able to attend the ceremony.
“When my brother and his fiancée announced their engagement, my daughter was upset because she wanted to marry him first,” she wrote on Reddit.
“He gave her a plastic ring and promised she could be his ‘best girl’ and dance with him at the wedding. They practiced for it every time he came to visit,” she added.
Because her daughter suffered from eczema, the mother bought a different wedding dress for her child at the last minute: a plain white cotton dress.
The bride became furious and jealous when she saw the color of the child’s dress at the wedding. She even asked the mother to go home and choose another dress.
The mother refused to leave and chose a less offensive outfit, prioritizing the child’s comfort.
From that moment on, things quickly got out of hand.

“The bride accused me of insulting my daughter… She also made a disturbing comment about how my daughter would look as a ‘child bride,’” the woman said.
“I was shocked and said she was disgusting.”
While the bride apologized for the outburst afterward, the mother and child left the wedding in tears, prompting her brother to cancel the entire ceremony.
“Apparently she has always been incredibly jealous of the close bond my brother has with my daughter. He is constantly buying her things and volunteering to babysit her children instead of spending money or spending time with his fiancée,” the woman explained.
The American mother wondered on Reddit whether she was wrong. She decided to dress her child in white, but opinions were divided.
Many people felt that the situation could have easily been avoided and that it was entirely the mother’s fault.
“You really can’t imagine how you could have made a mistake here,” one man asked.
“The ring, the dance and the fact that you want to marry him is horrible, but taking her out in white in that context is just plain crazy,” one woman said.
“At best, no one had any inappropriate intentions, but it was a lot. A ring, a spotlight dance, and a white dress? What would the bride get that the cousin wouldn’t,” she added.
“The daughter’s obsession with her uncle (and the adults who dealt with her) kept her uncle from getting married. That’s wild,” she said.
Others criticized the mother for only having one dress that fit her child.
“If your daughter has such bad eczema, it is your duty to have more than one garment that will not agitate her. Especially in the summer. One cotton garment? Come on,” said one woman.
Others called the bride’s reaction deranged and blamed her for the drama.
“Honestly, the bride is crazy because she’s insecure about having a child. The main reason people don’t want others to wear white is because they’re afraid of being in the spotlight. A child won’t overshadow them,” one woman said.
“I agree. This bride is crazy if she’s jealous of a five year old… she sounds crazy. She should be happy that her husband is so nice and interactive with his niece. He sounds like good father material,” said another woman.
“Bride is dirty. Brother dodged a bullet,” said another.
Others also found it strange that the groom reacted so extremely and called off the wedding.
