Ten years later, Jenny McCarthy reflects on an unpleasant situation she found herself in during an episode of The View.

The former Playboy Playmate of the Year, 51, recalled going through a menopause episode during an interview on the talk show that “scared” her co-stars.

‘I’m sitting on the blue couch, you know, the crescent-shaped couch where all the guests sit [on]’, McCarthy told Kelly Ripa on her Let’s talk off camera podcasting.

She continued: ‘Suddenly my eyes widen because I feel like I’m on my period.

‘And when [you’re] “When you’re in your 40s and going through menopause, you’re bleeding to death,” McCarthy explains.

“You’re actually bleeding, you know, your uterus is falling out. Sorry. But that happens.”

McCarthy said she crossed her legs “harder and harder” because she was “wearing a damn dress” and that she felt blood running down her legs during the interview.

The Scream 3 actress ended the interview early and stayed on stage for a moment as everyone stood up. She tried to call another crew member over.

“Someone came up to me and I explained it to them, and they said, ‘It’s going to be OK. Just get up and run,’” she said.

McCarthy recalled telling them, “You don’t understand perimenopausal periods. This is going to be a disaster. You’re going to have to push me out with the couch!”

She said everyone could see the blood on her dress as she ran backstage. “They were all shocked,” she added.

McCarthy briefly co-hosted The View from 2013 to 2014, when ABC reportedly has chosen not to renew her contract.

The John Tucker Must Die actress told Access to Hollywood the decision was mutual after she was brought in to “make it more lighthearted and fun for pop culture” in Barbara Walters’ final year on the show.

“It’s just clear that now that they’re at the table, they want more conflict and debate,” she said in 2014.

“You can’t really have five Democrats sitting at a table,” McCarthy added. “It was mutual. I can’t be a part of this and they agreed. They want a right-wing badass to come in.”

McCarthy explained: ‘It’s not weird because it wasn’t, ‘You’re fired, go away,’ it was very peaceful – there was no reason for either of our parties to end abruptly. It was kind of a miraculous thing, for me, I think of it as a class I took with Barbara Walters.’

Later that year, she began hosting The Jenny McCarthy Show on SiriusXM (then called Dirty, Sexy, Funny with Jenny McCarthy).

Since 2019, McCarthy has been a panelist on Fox’s The Masked Singer.
