Alvaro Morata and the members of the Spanish squad appeared to be in a relaxed mood as they took to the golf course, just days before their clash with England in the final of Euro 2024.

Spain reached the final of a major tournament for the first time in 12 years on Wednesday in Munich by beating France.

A special shot from the boot of 16-year-old Lamine Yamal and Dani Olmo’s third goal of the tournament cancelled out Randal Kolo Muani’s early opener.

England await Luis de la Fuente’s team in Berlin on Sunday after Ollie Watkins’ dramatic closing-stage goal against the Netherlands sent Gareth Southgate’s side through to the final of the European Championship for the second time in a row.

You’d think Spain would be fully focused on their biggest competition in over a decade, but it looks like they still have time to enjoy a round of golf in the sunshine.

The report underlines once again that Morata should be fit enough to start in the tournament final against the Three Lions at the weekend.

The Spain captain has started five of the six European Championship matches so far and played 76 minutes in the semi-final against France.

However, shortly after the final whistle and the accompanying festivities, Morata was involved in an accident involving a Spanish security guard.

In the strange incident, the guard was chasing a field robber when he lost his balance and collided with Morata’s knee.

The striker was in pain after the blow and limped off the field, raising serious doubts over whether he would be fit for the final.

Concerns have since been allayed after Morata joked: “It (the security guard’s offence) was a yellow card and that was it.”

Spain’s relaxed nature probably stems from self-confidence. On Tuesday, they became the first team in European Championship history to win six matches in the tournament (excluding penalties).

Luis de la Fuente’s team started the season in excellent form with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Croatia.

They then defeated current defending champions Italy and closed the group stage with a 1-0 victory over Albania, despite making ten changes to the team.

In the round of 16, Spain defeated Georgia in stunning fashion, beating the newcomers to the big tournament by four points to secure a thrilling draw with host nation Germany.

They won again, beating Julian Nagelsmann’s team in dramatic fashion thanks to a winning goal from Mikel Merino in the 119th minute, before beating the French in their last four games.

Only England stand in the way of a third European Championship win this century and they look set to enter the final feeling confident.
