Burnley have confirmed the appointment of former Fulham and Bournemouth manager Scott Parker as their new manager on a three-year contract.
The Clarets, who were relegated from the Premier League last season, have been searching for a replacement for Vincent Kompany since he was snapped up from Bayern Munich in May.
And now, after a lengthy process in which they were linked with the likes of Ruud van Nistelrooy, Frank Lampard and Liam Rosenior, they finally have the person they support and who can take them further.
Parker, 43, has been out of work since being sacked by Club Brugge in March 2023 after an unhappy two-and-a-half month spell in Belgium.
However, he has previously enjoyed success in the Championship, leading Fulham and Bournemouth to promotion in 2021 and 2022 respectively.

Parker guided the Cottagers through the play-offs, where they defeated rivals Brentford in the final, while leading the Cherries to automatic promotion, although he left the club in anger after just four games the following season.
In total, the former England midfielder has won 67 of his 172 games as manager and Burnley will be hoping he is the right choice to lead them straight back to the Premier League.
The future looked bright for the club after they were promoted under Kompany just over a year ago, but they struggled to adapt to the Premier League and were promptly relegated again.
They were relegated by eight points, having won only five of their 38 top-flight games.
However, Kompany was approached by Bayern and he opted to move to Germany, leaving the Clarets in search of a new leader.
Nearly two months later, a deal has finally been struck and Parker has set his sights on immediate success at the club.
“I’m very happy to be here,” he said of his appointment. “I’ve been talking to Burnley for a while now, which is positive because I’ve got a good feeling about the people around the club.
‘When you’re on the training field now, you get that feeling again and I can’t wait to get on the training field and get started.
“The most important thing is that we are successful this year. We have to win and build a team that the fans and the club can be proud of. This team can represent each of them in that respect and that is the goal.”
