A family in Buriram is seeking justice after a YouTuber trespassed into their home without permission, filmed the property, and uploaded the video with misleading information suggesting the house was haunted. The video has caused significant distress and concern for the family’s safety and the security of their possessions.
As of today, the video has garnered over 74,000 views, and the content creator has yet to issue a formal apology to the family or the property owners.
The incident has deeply affected the family, who were shocked to discover the intrusion through the video shared online. The video, complete with eerie sound effects and false claims, suggested that a death had occurred in the house, which was not the case.
The family has confirmed that the house, located in Nong Saeng, Khaen Dong district of Buriram province, is regularly occupied and maintained, contrary to the YouTuber’s allegations of it being abandoned.
The 44 year old brother of the homeowner, Sukrit Sritawong, expressed the family’s alarm upon seeing their home presented on YouTube in this false and sensationalised manner.
Sukrit clarified that the house is frequented by family members and is not for sale. The family has filed a police report at the Khaen Dong Police Station, intending to pursue legal action to the fullest extent.
A 67 year old neighbour, Dam Panyutep, who appeared in the video, recounted the day the YouTuber arrived, inquiring about the property and indicating his intention to film for YouTube.
Unaware of the planned narrative, she allowed access to the property, not realising it would lead to the unauthorized video and the subsequent upset it caused, reported Khaosod.
The family’s situation highlights the ethical boundaries crossed by some content creators in pursuit of viral fame and the real-world consequences that local communities and individuals often face as a result of such reckless online behaviour.
The case continues to develop as the family seeks legal recourse to address the violation of their privacy and the misrepresentation of their home.
