Travis Kelce fans convinced Chiefs star used ‘Grotesquerie’ role to make secret tribute to Taylor Swift

Travis Kelce's acting debut in Grotesquerie sparked a wild Taylor Swift theory among fans

Travis Kelce finally hit TV screens in his acting debut in FX’s new horror show ‘Grotesquerie’.

The NFL star swapped the football field for the movie set this offseason and fans’ anxious wait to witness his acting skills came to an end when he appeared at the end of episode three of Ryan Murphy’s latest hit show.

The tight end was introduced as Ed Lachlan – a recovering drug addict who works as a nurse and who provides a potential love interest for protagonist Niecy Nash-Betts’ character, Detective Lois Tryon.

Ed first meets Lois in the hospital where her husband was in a coma. After finding her sitting on a bench smoking a cigarette, Ed started sweet-talking the detective before she pulled out a bottle and started drinking. He warned her not to get in her car, but she continued driving after drinking.

In the next scene, Lois crashes her car into a pole and wakes up in the hospital with Ed as her nurse. She convinces him to sneak out of the hospital against her doctor’s orders, and he obliges.

In a romantic and flirty sequence, Ed and Lois flee the scene hand in hand before escaping in his red convertible.

And fans were convinced the final scene was a nod to Kelce’s girlfriend, Taylor Swift.

Social media led to the theory that Lois and Ed’s getaway car was a subtle reference to one of Kelce’s superstar girlfriend’s hits.

The singer’s 2017 album “Reputation” featured a fan-favorite song, “Getaway Car,” which led many fans to make comparisons between the tune and Kelce’s character’s getaway car.

Commenting on a clip of the scene on X, formerly known as social media, one fan wrote: “Omg it’s the getaway car!”

‘Lol . Taylor must be laughing right now,” another Swiftie added, referencing the pop icon’s love of Easter eggs, while another chimed in, writing, “Not Taylor’s quick reference.”

Others responded to the link by sharing the song’s famous lyrics, with one writing the opening line: “Nothing good starts in a getaway car,” while another added a snippet of the bridge with the lyrics: “They were jet-setting, Bonnie and Clyde.’

Another fan shared TikTok to highlight the connection, writing over a clip from the episode: “Does this look familiar Swifties?!.”

“This can’t be a coincidence!” the fan wrote in the caption of the post.

Meanwhile, other eagle-eyed fans recognized that the car looked very similar to the convertible in which Kelce and Swift drove away from Arrowhead after attending her first Chiefs game.

“Oh I look familiar except the passenger was a blonde with her hands in the air lol,” one social media user posted.

Fans were left pleasantly surprised by Kelce’s acting debut, while his co-star Courtney B Vance, who plays Lois’ husband, also had praise.

The Tony and Emmy winner said Kelce was a “nice choice” for the supporting role, according to Bang Showbiz.

“It just lets you know the power of (director) Ryan Murphy,” Vance continued. “(He) just called and said, ‘Come on down.’”

‘He was very wonderful. (It was) no surprise, he was just prepared. He was just good. And when he needed help, he was open.”
