Rachel McAdams is eyeing a role in Sam Raimi’s upcoming horror-thriller titled Send Help, after the pair collaborated on 2022’s Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness.
The Notebook actress – who made her Broadway debut earlier this year – is only in the negotiation stages and has not yet officially taken on a role in the film, sources said. Term on Saturday.
Raimi will not only step behind the camera to direct the film, but will also produce the project.
Send Help is expected to hit theaters, although a release date has yet to be revealed.
The film is also based on an original script written by both Damian Shannon and Mark Swift.

According to Deadline, the upcoming film is described as a “two-hander horror thriller set on an island” and “somewhere between Rob Reiner’s Stephen King adaptation Misery and Robert Zemeckis’ classic Castaway.”
Sam is no stranger to the horror-thriller genre, having directed films such as The Evil Dead (1981) and two sequels.
In 1992 he directed the horror comedy Army Of Darkness, and in 2009 he also worked on Drag Me To Hell.
Raimi also directed Spider-Man (2002) and its two sequels, which notably starred Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst and James Franco.
And in 2022, the filmmaker stepped back into the superhero universe and directed the sequel Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness.
McAdams, 45, notably reprized her role of Dr. Christine Palmer, who she played in the first Doctor Strange film (2016).
Rachel previously talked about working with Raimi and shared it Collider in a previous interview: ‘I love Sam so much. He’s such a professional, but he’s so humble and so collaborative.”

The About Time actress added, “Like Wes Craven, same thing. Nice, he’s the gentlest person. And then they just practice it all on the screen, which is the best place to do it…’
And while you’re talking Variety in 2022, the star discussed her reasoning behind her return to the world of Doctor Strange, explaining, “Well, I mean, getting to work with Sam.”
“And I said, ‘Sam, I’m pregnant. Is that okay?’ But of course he can’t say that’s not the case,’ she added humorously. “He said, ‘This is great. Let’s do it.’”
‘And I have many exciting ideas for Christine and her evolution. He took me through the whole trip and it just sounded really fun and thoughtful, and I was excited to come back.”
McAdams has also dabbled in the horror-thriller genre in the past, such as in the 2005 horror mystery titled Red Eye. The film also had Cillian Murphy and Brian Cox cast.
Rachel has been busy throughout 2024 and made her Broadway debut in the play Mary Jane in April.
The mother of two was also nominated for a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Play for her performance.
Mary Jane first opened at the Yale Repertory Theater in 2017, making its Broadway debut starring McAdams. The play officially ended in June.
During an interview with Broadway.comthe actress opened up about the difference between working on a play versus film or television.
‘Yes, it is very different from film or television. The training my brain goes through to learn all these rules and then not just throw them away, you know?” she explained.
And while speaking to Variety in 2022, the star discussed her reasoning behind her return to the world of Doctor Strange, explaining, “Well, I mean, getting to work with Sam”; seen in 2017 in Burbank

‘In film and television you learn a page, you throw it away and you never see it again, until perhaps a new recording a year later.’
Rachel humorously added, “I love going to work in my pajamas and staying in them. In film and television you may show up in your pajamas, but you won’t stay that way.’
“So, as you know, you just don’t have to think about hair and makeup and really get into the nitty gritty every day…” the star continued.
And in June, she made a glamorous appearance at the 77th annual Tony Awards in New York, and was joined during the festivities by her father Lance McAdams and mother Sandra McAdams.
