Donald Glover has canceled the remainder of his tour as musical act Childish Gambino.

The 41-year-old artist – who performed in Detroit in August – announced on Friday that he will not be able to take the stage due to a health problem.

On social media, where he has 7.8 million followers on Instagram and X, he shared a detailed message.

He began, “After my show in New Orleans, I went to the hospital in Houston to make sure of a condition that had become apparent. After the review, it became clear that I would not be performing that night, and after further testing, I was unable to perform the remainder of the US tour in the requested time.”

He continued, “As of now, I have surgery scheduled and need time to heal. My path to recovery is something I need to tackle seriously.

“That said, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the remainder of the North American tour as well as the UK and European dates.”

It comes after he postponed a slew of dates in early September, saying he needed to “focus on my physical health.”

“Hold on to your tickets. ALL tickets will be honored for the upcoming dates in North America when they are rescheduled. thanks for the privacy. thanks for the support. thank you for the love,” he posted on X.

But in Friday’s note, Glover said: “Tickets will be refunded at the time of purchase. I want nothing more than to bring this show to the fans and perform. Until then, thank you for the love, privacy and support.”

Earlier this year, the This Is America hitmaker revealed he plans to retire his alter ego Childish Gambino.

“It was really like, ‘Oh, it’s done. It’s not satisfying,’” he said New York Times. “And I just felt like I didn’t have to build like this anymore.”

The tour was intended to include 33 stops across the US, starting in Oklahoma City on August 11.

The North American leg of the tour was scheduled to end in Chicago on October 3.
