Bride-to-be Brittany Hockley shocks with Aussie wedding dress code as she prepares to walk down the aisle with Benjamin Siegrist

Bride-to-be Brittany Hockley has revealed a huge mistake with her wedding invitations for her upcoming nuptials to fiancé Benjamin Siegrist.

The Bachelor star, 37, got engaged to the Swiss footballer, 32, in June, and some of the wording surrounding the dress code was lost in translation for the couple’s international guests.

Brittany said there was a hilarious miscommunication over her “no thongs” instruction at the wedding.

In her Life Uncut podcast, she explained that the do’s and don’ts of her clothing were pretty standard, but her choice of words was confusing to some.

“Ben and I sent out the save-the-date invites and he said, ‘Honey, I’m getting random messages, people keep asking me about the dress code,’” she told co-host Laura Byrne.

After Brittany explained that Ben had received “four or five” messages from foreign guests about the dress code, the penny finally dropped after a friend of Ben also questioned the “no thongs” rule.

“She said, ‘How strict is it?’ What if it doesn’t match my dress?” Brittany remembers.

“And then she said, ‘Well, I don’t know how she knows if I’m wearing it,’ and he said, ‘She’s going to see it.’

The miscommunication angered the friend who called Brittany’s dress code request “perverted” after Ben explained that his bride would be able to see the offending items quite clearly on the day.

‘Ben said, “They’re going to sit at your feet so she’ll see them,” and she said, “A thong is a thong,” and he said, “Oh my God, there’s a language barrier here.”‘

Most Australians call slippers thongs, which are not often worn at weddings.

However, in Europe and much of the rest of the world, a thong is skimpy women’s underwear.

“Ben calls me and says, ‘Honey, half the wedding thinks you told them not to wear thongs.’

‘Strict enforcement, full instructions or nothing.’

Brittany also recently confessed on her podcast that she “revolted” when she discovered her future husband likes to eat cottage cheese from a bathtub.

“Last night I got a new ick from Ben,” she began.

“He always sits down with his bowl of yogurt when we FaceTime each other, but this time it was a little thick,” Brittany explains.

“I asked him what he ate and he said it was cottage cheese.”

Brittany said Benjamin told her he “just discovered them, loved them and bought them in bulk.”

“He ate raw, out of the bathtub…I just find it disgusting,” she admitted.

Her co-host Laura added: “I’m not surprised though. Top athletes eat the strangest things. I’m not as offended as you are.’

In her post, Brittany expressed her love for her new fiancé, writing, “In every life it’s a YES! Just two people who will love each other for the rest of our lives.”

Brittany became Instagram official with Swiss goalkeeper Benjamin in January last year.

The duo met in November 2022 through celebrity dating app Raya.

At the time, the goalkeeper’s football team, Glasgow-based Celtic FC, was playing in Australia against Sydney FC.
