Natalie Bassingthwaighte has hit back at the ‘malicious’ and ‘bitter’ haters who routinely troll her gay relationship with girlfriend Pip Loth.

The Rogue Traders singer, who celebrated her 50th birthday on Sunday, responded on Instagram on Tuesday to the impact negative comments have on her relationship and family.

In the post, Natalie shared an old photo of herself and revealed that the young woman in the photo was “lost,” “scared” and “not nice.”

“I came across this photo the other day,” Natalie began.

“This is a picture of me from about 30 years ago! I’m sad, lost, vulnerable, scared. I don’t like myself. I don’t know who I am! I’ve lost the ability to use my words or even know what I wanted to say,” she continued.

The photo shows a fresh-faced young Natalie wearing a floral halter dress with her blonde locks tied in a bun.

“It took me a long time to accept these feelings,” Natalie continued in her post.

“I have done the work and I will continue to do the work on myself. For me and those around me. Grief can come from many areas in life: tragedy, trauma, LIFE!

You don’t know where people have been or where they are going. [sic] go. What they’ve been through. Their traumas, their triggers, their struggles to not only stay afloat but to stay swimming, can come back at any time,” she continued.

“Yesterday it was made clear to me that some people felt the need to comment on my post with my girlfriend. It was deliberately malicious,” Natalie continued.

‘My page is for people who want to feel loved and supported. Who don’t judge. Who don’t put people down or make them feel like a bad person.

‘My mental health has been a struggle and I have come out the other side but I am coping daily! I have seen loved ones commit suicide because of people like you! Enough now!

“If you don’t have anything nice to say to people, don’t say anything at all!”

‘My mother taught me to always treat people the way you want to be treated. For me that is with love, kindness, respect and without judgement.’

This is the second time Natalie Bass has used her platform to address the “voracious hate” she’s experienced online since the beginning of her new relationship.

Natalie announced her relationship with stage manager Pip Loth in November 2023.

The couple met when Natalie performed in the musical Jagged Little Pill.

The circus that followed pushed the singer to her limits, as she struggled with the fact that she had unintentionally become a poster child for “late-blooming lesbians” and an easy target for keyboard heroes.

“I want it to stop,” she pleaded with the “trolls” in a heartbreaking two-part video, which she also posted to Instagram, last November.

Almost a year later, Natalie and camera-shy Pip proudly made their red carpet debut as a couple in Sydney, and yesterday Nat shared a smiling, loved-up selfie with her ‘sweet and beautiful’ partner in Queensland.

She gushed about their romance in the caption: “Pip Loth you opened my mind, my soul and my heart,” Nat wrote, captioning the photo with a red heart and rainbow emojis: “#NeverBeTheSameAgain.”

Natalie is the mother of two children with her ex-husband: Harper (13) and Hendrix (10).

The Amazing Race Australia contestant expressed her hurt and outrage, writing: “How dare you suggest I’m not a great mother or a great person or comment on my appearance!”

It took me a long time to love myself and I won’t let you take that away from me.

“I won’t lie, your hurtful comments have set me back, but I will be brave again, pick myself up like I always have and move on.”

After 12 months of reading ‘hurtful and ‘inappropriate’ opinions from strangers about ‘my relationship with my partner, my ex and my children’, Natalie decided to call it quits and disabled comments on her Instagram.

Only people she follows can leave comments on her posts.

“We’ve all worked incredibly hard to get to where we are today and I’m proud of all of us for that. We’re safe, we’re happy and we’re healthy.”

“Don’t tell me I’m a bad mother, because I’m not. If you don’t like the way I look, don’t watch. If you don’t like the love I share through pictures and words, unfollow me.”

“My children are loved and they love people without judgement. They are kind, empathetic and inclusive. And those are the people we are creating.”

Natalie apologized to her fans and “the wonderful people who are sending their love and support,” but told them not to worry about the move. “I will feel all the love regardless.”

She went on to say that she “forgives” those “forced to live lives of bitterness and hatred” for their “attack” and that she understands how “difficult” it can be to “peel back layers” of our beliefs.

“I can only imagine what you’ve been through, and I apologize for that. I just hope you take this and look within and do the work.”

“It can be painful to revisit and relive things from your past, but to come out the other side surrounded by incredible people who love and support me is what keeps me going every day,” she concluded.

Natalie is spending her ‘birthday week’ in Cairns, Queensland, with Pip.
