Manchester United midfielder Casemiro made two costly errors in the first half of Sunday’s match against Liverpool.

The former Real Madrid star gave the ball away with a loose pass 10 seconds before Dominik Szoboszlai headed Liverpool 1-0 up in the 35th minute.

Casemiro was then tackled by Luis Diaz, with the Colombian making it 2-0 seven minutes later.

Former United captain Gary Neville and former Liverpool captain Jamie Carragher were part of the Sky Sports pundit team on Sunday and both men commented on Casemiro’s mistakes.

Neville said: ‘I have to say he’s lost his confidence a little bit. For Casemiro, someone who’s won Champions Leagues with Real Madrid, it can happen to you in games.’

Carragher added: ‘He’s had such a great career and won everything you can win and it’s sad to see what he’s going through there.’

Neville analysed Liverpool’s second goal and explained: ‘Casemiro just gets cleared off the ball. No foul, he just takes it off him.’

Carragher said: ‘A bad pass can always happen but the second time he gets knocked over he looks devastated and falls over.’

Casemiro did not return to the field after the break.

He was taken off before the second 45th minute, when manager Erik ten Hag replaced him with 20-year-old Toby Collyer.
