Mark Cuban was curious whether his followers on X think Donald Trump or Kamala Harris are better role models for children.

Despite the billionaire’s outspoken disapproval of Trump over the years, the former president overwhelmingly won the informal social media poll.

“What personality and character would you like to see young children have when they grow up,” Cuban asked his 8.8 million followers, choosing between the Republican and Democratic candidates for 2024.

Of the 804,173 votes cast in the survey sent to X on Friday, 68.9 percent said they would prefer their children to look up to Trump, and 31.1 percent said Harris did.

The poll prompted a flood of responses, including Trending Politics co-owner Collin Rugg posting a video of Louisiana Sen. John Kennedy explaining why people don’t have to personally like the person they vote for for president.

“Some people don’t like President Trump, and I know some people don’t like Vice President Harris. But I want to remind people that you’re not electing a spouse or a life partner here. You’re electing the president of the United States,” the Republican senator said in the video.

Kennedy concluded: “And that decision – your decision – must be based on the candidates’ policies and their track records.”

Several MAGA users repeated right-wing claims that Harris has used her sex life to ascend to top positions in California politics, a move they said was intended to prevent their daughters from looking up to the vice president.

Cuban said he initially supported Trump when he started his campaign in 2016 and in 2015 he even said he would consider becoming his running mate.

The Dallas Mavericks minority owner and Shark Tank host spoke to former 2024 candidate Vivek Ramaswamy at X spaces on August 7, explaining, “In 2015, I was like, ‘He’s great. He’s not your typical Stepford candidate.’ I thought that was a positive.”

“A big part of it is I didn’t think he had a chance,” he continued. “I just wanted to screw things up in traditional politics, which I’m not a fan of.”

But Cuban immediately endorsed Harris this summer when she became the presumptive nominee in late July.

Valentina Gomez, who lost her Republican bid for Missouri secretary of state earlier this month, was among those who responded to Cuban’s post on Friday with criticism of Harris’ professional record.

“Mark, you have daughters,” she wrote. “Do you want your daughters sleeping with billionaires to gain powerful positions in politics, sports, or business? If you don’t want that, Trump is your answer.”
