Acid attack in Corby injures five, damages seven vehicles

Emergency services treated five individuals after an apparent ‘acid attack’ in Corby, Northampton shire, which also damaged seven vehicles. The incident occurred at approximately 6:30pm on Wednesday, close to a children’s football practice.

Witnesses reported that youths on a moped threw a substance onto vehicles near a football training session for Hellenic Fisher FC. Armed police and ambulances responded quickly to Burghley Road. Eyewitnesses described up to four motorbikes, mopeds, and e-bikes speeding across the fields before one vehicle stopped and its riders doused seven cars with a substance.

Five individuals received on-scene treatment from emergency services and were released without serious injuries. Bystanders initially attempted to wash off the liquid from the cars but noticed it had an acidic smell. Police suspect the substance may have been a solvent or hydrochloric acid, though testing to confirm its identity will occur tomorrow.

Corby Police Sergeant Keely Cox stated, “This evening, we are utilising all our resources to apprehend the culprits. We don’t believe this was a targeted attack. Five people received treatment, but thankfully, there are no serious injuries. At least seven cars have been damaged. This serious incident highlights the importance of Operation Pacify, and we are committed to catching those responsible.”
