American hurdler Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone has retained her gold medal from the 2020 Olympic Games and broken her own world record in the process

The New Jersey native came home in a time of 50.37 seconds — breaking the world record she set earlier this summer at the U.S. Olympic Trials in Oregon.

The Tokyo Olympic champion has regained her place at the top of the hurdles after missing the 2023 World Athletics Championships.

After the race, she was hugged by her friends and family and a tiara was placed on her head, making her the queen of the race for the evening.

Anna Cockrell from the United States won silver and Dutch Femke Bol bronze.

With the win, McLauglin-Levrone has now set the last six world records in the event since setting her first record during the 2021 U.S. Olympic Qualifying Trials ahead of the Tokyo Games.

At the Olympic Games that year, she improved that record by almost half a second, from 51.9 to 51.46.
