“His personality just radiates off of him. So he would have definitely been at the top of my list… and then I saw him and he was absolutely fit.”

Matt and Emma started dating in 2004, when he was at the height of his fame with his band Busted and she was hosting an MTV show.

Twenty years later, Emma continues to insist that she falls more and more in love with him every day and that she still doesn’t find their relationship boring.

She said: ‘He’s home in every sense of the word. Wherever he is, that’s where I want to be because he’s just f***ing brilliant and he’s my best mate, which I think can sometimes get lost in relationships…

“I’m still in love with him, I still like him, he still makes me laugh and he still turns me on. It’s not just the moves I make. I know it sounds really f***ing cheesy but I honestly love him more every day… and we hate being apart more and more.

“It’s really weird. It’s just a feeling that I’m really f***ing happy about because we’ve been together for a long time and it’s still not boring.”

She explains why she’s so excited about her new job as a presenter on Love Island Blind: ‘You get the chance to talk to someone and feel the energy and the vibe of that person… and hopefully – after dating them day and night for so long – you meet them and you’re as happy with what you see as you are with what you learn.’

She said: ‘I didn’t really show myself for a long time; I just did everything except what I really needed… The list was long and I was at the bottom, if there was time. But I actually changed that a lot.

‘Probably from the age of 45 onwards I felt myself changing and getting older and more tired. I think you also see your parents getting older…

‘That was a real shift in my mindset – when my body suddenly felt ‘mid-forties’ and tired, [I began] changing things like sleeping and giving myself time to do something. Even if it’s something I don’t want to do; I don’t want to go to the gym, but I do want to be strong.’

As for what has changed, she said, “I’m really enjoying going sugar-free… I did it for about eight weeks at the beginning of this year and I noticed a huge difference in everything. My sleep patterns were better; I was less bloated, less puffy… I wear an Oura ring, I track my sleep, I try to be more fit.”

Last year, her husband released a documentary about his battle with drug and alcohol addiction, titled Matt Willis: Fighting Addiction.

Emma admitted she was incredibly nervous about the release: “It was really scary making it because we always try to stay as private as possible in a public sector. That really puts us on the map.”

“Even the night before it aired, we were like, ‘What’s going to happen tomorrow?’ We literally went to Thailand and hid… We went to Matt’s [40th] “My birthday, but I planned it so we could get away together for a while and wait for a possible downfall.”

Matt and his family received a lot of support from viewers, who responded positively to his honest and raw documentary.

She said: ‘It’s been phenomenal – the response and the stories people have shared. It’s really blown us away. I get really emotional talking about it…

“I couldn’t believe that people were sharing what had happened to them on such a public platform as Instagram… It’s something that will last forever, you know, and it’s the way you deal with it on a daily basis… because life can get better.”
