Former Penrith NRL star Taylan May was arrested and refused bail after being accused of breaching a domestic violence order on Saturday afternoon.
The former Panthers player spent the night in jail and is due to appear in court on Sunday after being arrested in Emerton Village in Sydney’s west.
“At approximately 2.50pm (Saturday 24 August 2024), officers from Nepean Police Area Command were called to a shopping centre on Jersey Road, Emerton following reports of a man allegedly breaching a trespassing order (ADVO),” NSW Police said in a statement to Ny Breaking Australia.
The 23-year-old man was arrested and taken to Penrith Police Station where he was charged with breaching a Domestic Violation Order.
‘He was refused bail to appear in Parramatta District Court today (Sunday 25 August 2024)’.
May was banned from playing under the NRL’s ‘no fault stand-down’ policy after he was arrested in May and accused of punching his wife in the face during an argument on April 8 this year.
He was charged with assault with intent to cause bodily harm and two counts of stalking or intimidating another person with intent to put him or her in fear of physical or mental harm.
May pleaded not guilty to all charges when he appeared in Penrith District Court on May 28. He was due to appear in court on March 10 next year, before the alleged incident that led to his arrest on Saturday.

The development comes after May (pictured at a match in May this year) was accused of allegedly punching his wife in the face in April
May (pictured in Sydney in June) had signed a contract extension with the Panthers in March, but the club parted ways in July
The first allegations came after he signed a two-year, $1.2 million contract extension with the Panthers in March.
May won a victory in federal court in June when he obtained an injunction preventing the club from holding a second hearing to discuss his firing.
The Panthers had issued him a warning in relation to previous incidents that were reportedly unrelated to the alleged domestic violence charges but stemmed from a list of alleged off-field misconduct since his NRL debut in 2021.
Penrith split in July after both parties agreed to a confidential settlement.
He was in the news again last week when former Penrith star Josh Mansour issued a sincere apology after announcing he wanted to publish an interview with May for the Let’s Trot podcast.
