Toby Maguire’s ex-wife Jennifer Meyer is crediting ‘angel’ Gwyneth Paltrow for her amicable divorce from the Spider-Man star.
Paltrow, 51, was widely ridiculed when she announced her 2014 split from Coldplay star Chris Martin, 47, as a “conscious split.” However, Meyer, 47, said the actress’ amicable split helped her cope with her own divorce from Maguire, 49, in 2020.
Jewelry designer Meyer said on the Broad Ideas podcast on Monday, “When Tobey and I first started breaking up, I saw what Gwyneth Paltrow did with Chris: a conscious uncoupling that everyone made fun of.
“I saw it with my own eyes and it was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen two people go through. She was so loving and kind and open with him and she created this family.
‘I thought, ‘Wow, that’s not what I was taught growing up. I was taught that divorce was ugly… bad and would never be good.

Meyer asked Paltrow, “How did you do that? Please, what do I do? Because we just broke up and it feels really scary. … How can we come together for [these] human[s] we both created what we love? What do we do?’
Meyer added that Paltrow introduced her to Dr. Habib Sadeghi: “She didn’t tell me about their process, she didn’t tell me anything at all.
“She just said, ‘I have someone for you to meet with. Good luck,’ basically. Because I think you have to give people their own process.”
Meyer said she had hit “the jackpot of ex-husbands” with Maguire, adding that the pair were still “best friends” four years after their divorce.
They have a daughter Ruby, 18, and a son Otis, 15.

Meyer recently denied rumors that the Spider-Man actor was romancing model Lily Chee, who is almost thirty years his junior.
A Reddit thread posted on Sunday titled “Jen Meyer defends ex-husband Tobey Maguire” contained some People A comment was reported from Meyer in which he denied any romantic connection between Maguire and Chee.

Meyer was responding to reports linking Maguire to Chee after they were photographed together at an exclusive July 4 bash known as the “White Party” in New York’s Hamptons, hosted by billionaire Michael Rubin.
The Reddit thread included a screenshot of Instagram sent to an account for Meyer’s Los Angeles jewelry business with the username @jenmeyerjewelry.
One user reportedly asked Meyer with three skull emojis, “Why is your ex-husband fucking someone three years older than your daughter?”
A response from the @jenmeyerjewelry account read: ‘I don’t normally respond to this kind of crap but he was kindly helping a friend with her car. Being a good guy.
And now he has [been] criticized online for dating someone he’s not. But thank you for your rude comments. I hope you’re feeling better today. Wishing you love and light.’
The comment was subsequently deleted, according to The independent.
Maguire and Meyer tied the knot in 2007 in Kona, Hawaii. Nine years later, in 2016, they announced their split.
