    A Las Vegas mother and her sister wept in court as they were convicted of killing two toddlers in a horrific drunk driving crash that left one of the children decapitated.

    On Thursday, prosecutors revealed that the children were not wearing car seats because Washington, 25, who was also in the van, had sold them just a week before their deaths, the report said. 8 News Now.

    Manning and Washington’s mother sobbed in the courtroom as she pleaded for mercy for her daughters. A family member led her from the courtroom, crying.

    Manning was sentenced to three to 10 years in prison for the two deaths and Washington, who is currently pregnant, was given 364 days in jail and five years probation for child abuse or neglect.

    Washington wanted her sentence to begin Monday so she could spend the day with her son, who was born after her daughters died. However, Judge Erika Mendoza ruled that her sentence should begin immediately.

    “The problem is I’m not sure all these mistakes could happen to a responsible parent,” Mendoza said.

    The sisters must also pay $10,000 to a victim fund that helped pay for the children’s funerals, as well as a mandatory $2,000 fine.

    Manning’s blood alcohol content after the crash was found to be 0.191, more than twice the legal limit in Nevada.

    She apparently left the road and hit the curb, then grazed trees, hit a lamppost and a wall, and crashed head-on into a large palm tree.

    According to Las Vegas police, the drunk driver had “slurred speech” and a “strong odor of alcohol came from her breath” every time she “opened her mouth to speak.”

    According to police, her eyes were bloodshot and she kept repeating her words.

    Rose died at the scene, while Taylor was rushed to University Medical Center but eventually died from her injuries.

    Both women were rushed to hospital, where they were handcuffed to their beds while they recovered from their injuries, which were initially serious.

    Manning and Washington lived at the same address with the two little girls.
