Scottie Scheffler enjoys vacation with his wife Meredith and son Bennett ahead of The Open… as world No 1 relaxes by playing GOLF in Colorado

After a strong season on the course and a turbulent time off it, Scottie Scheffler decided to spend some time with his family. But he couldn’t avoid the course.

Scheffler, his wife Meredith and their newborn son Bennett enjoyed the mountain air in Telluride, Colorado last weekend.

The reigning Masters champion still found time to hit the course, snapping a photo with some friends and visiting a practice course with a great view.

2024 was a turbulent year for Scheffler, with many ups and downs.

His arrest at the PGA Championship made international headlines and his poor performance at the US Open led him to question his routine for a major tournament.

But outside of that, he’s been dominant this season, winning the Arnold Palmer Invitational, the Players Championship, the RBC Heritage, the Memorial Tournament and the Travelers Championship.

Those are all big-money events, but the busy schedule has Scheffler considering taking a break, as the world No. 1 hasn’t played since winning in Connecticut two weeks ago.

‘I’m not going to miss Jack’s tournament of course [the Memorial]. It’s a tournament that I love to play. It’s a tournament where I’m humbled to be the champion,’ Scheffler said after the final round of the US Open.

“But in terms of the preparation for this week, it may not have been the best, but I knew what my schedule was at the beginning of the year. I had it set. That’s how it was always going to be.

“I feel like I might approach things a little differently heading into the majors, especially knowing it’s going to be a challenging setting at the US Open.”

Scheffler struggled at Pinehurst for this year’s Open, making the cut on the course and only managing four birdies all week – all without ever breaking par.

“When we get back here in a couple of years, I’ll probably try to do a lot more work to get things going on the greens,” Scheffler said.

“I felt like I did a lot of my work on the greens this week and maybe I should have done more. The practice greens weren’t as fast as the course itself and it was hard to find anything comparable.”

Scheffler has never played in a tournament at Royal Troon and has struggled in previous editions of the Open.

It is the only major championship in which Scheffler did not finish in the top three.

His best performance at golf’s oldest tournament came in 2021, when the tournament was held at Royal St. George’s.

After The Open, two tournaments will take place: the Barracuda Championship and the 3M Open, before the Olympic Games begin.

Scheffler was one of four golfers named to Team USA, joining Xander Schauffele, Wyndham Clark and Collin Morikawa.
