Phillies third baseman Alec Bohm couldn’t help but laugh as singer Ingrid Andress sang “The Star-Spangled Banner” in a rollicking fashion during the MLB Home Run Derby.
The 27-year-old All-Star struggled to contain himself as Andress repeatedly off-keyed during the singing of the U.S. national anthem before the raucous event at Globe Life Field on Monday night.
As the ESPN broadcast focuses on him, at one point Bohm can be seen burying his head in his chest, clearly not wanting to flash his grin in public.
“Bohm almost lost his cool,” one person wrote on X, while someone else pointed out that the Omaha, Nebraska, native was just like “all of us” during Andress’s performance.
“Players deserve credit for keeping a serious face,” another user added.

Andress, a four-time Grammy-nominated artist, was compared to Fergie after her song went viral for all the wrong reasons, with some saying she sang much worse than the former Black-Eyed Peas lead singer during the 2020 NBA All-Star Game.
Someone said on X: ‘Ingrid Andress gives Fergie a run for her money as the worst national anthem ever performed.’
“My ears are bleeding. One of the worst national anthem performances ever,” someone else shared.
“That Ingrid Andress national anthem might be the worst thing to happen to America in the last 48 hours #brutal,” someone else said on the social media platform.
Andress has not yet responded to the reactions to her performance.
Andress was previously nominated for four Grammys and broke into the Billboard Hot 100
The 32-year-old singer previously reached the Billboard Hot 100 with her 2019 single “More Hears Than Mine,” which peaked at number 30.
In 2021, she was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Country Song, but lost to The Highwomen.
Andress’ latest hit, “Wishful Thinking,” featuring Sam Hunt, was nominated for a Grammy last year.
Meanwhile, Dodgers outfielder Teoscar Hernandez emerged victorious in the home run derby after beating Royals star Bobby Witt Jr. by one home run in the final round.
