This comes after it was revealed that Princess Kate will attend tomorrow’s Wimbledon men’s final to present the winner’s trophy. She and William sent a cheeky message to Princess Anne following her ‘horse-related’ accident.

The Princess of Wales will present the award to either Novak Djokovic or Carlos Alcaraz, Kensington Palace said.

However, she will not be there today and Wimbledon president Debbie Jevans will instead present the women’s singles trophy on Kate’s behalf to either Jasmine Paolini or Barbora Krejcikova after the women’s singles final.

Contingency plans had been made so that the Duchess of Gloucester, honorary president of the Lawn Tennis Association for 25 years, could step in if the Princess of Wales was unavailable due to her ongoing preventive cancer treatment.

Kate, 42, was last seen in public last month when she watched Trooping The Colour.

The Princess of Wales has been patron of the All England Club for eight years, succeeding Queen Elizabeth, who had held the role since 1952. She has presented the trophies annually since 2016.

Ms Jevans previously told how the club gave Kate ‘as much flexibility as possible’: ‘We hope that The Princess of Wales will be able to present the trophies as patron of the club, but her health and recovery are the priority.’

She carried her belongings in a small white handbag and hid her eyes behind black sunglasses as she posed for the photos.

“We don’t know what we don’t know. We just said we’re going to work with her and give her as much flexibility as possible.”

The princess said last month that she hoped to attend the occasional engagement over the summer, but urged the public to be patient with her because, like many cancer patients, she has “good days and bad days”.

Her husband Prince William, president of the Football Association, is travelling to Germany to attend the 2024 European Championship final between England and Spain at the Olympiastadion in Berlin tomorrow evening.

In a social media post today, he wrote: ‘We are so proud of you all, England. One last push to get the job done!

‘Go out there and show the world what you’re made of. We believe. W.’

He was in the crowd in Dusseldorf last Saturday to watch Gareth Southgate’s team beat Switzerland on penalties in their quarter-final, before captain Harry Kane and substitute Ollie Watkins scored on Wednesday to beat the Netherlands 2-1.

Meanwhile, William and Kate’s official @KensingtonRoyal account on X, formerly Twitter, posted a message today welcoming Princess Anne as she returns to royal duties, calling her a “Super Trooper.”

They shared photos of the Princess Royal attending a Riding for the Disabled Association event, adding: ‘Super trooper! So good to see you back so soon! W & C x’

Anne is said to be gradually returning to her royal duties. On June 23, she was taken to hospital with minor head injuries and concussion after taking a walk on her Gatcombe Park estate in Gloucestershire.

Her doctors believe her injuries were caused by being hit by a horse.
