    A comedian, writer and former talk show host has come out as gay on the last day of Pride month.

    Amber Ruffin was married to a man before finalizing her divorce in December of last year.

    The Omaha, Nebraska, resident shared the news with her 360,000 followers on Instagram on Sunday, with a message aimed specifically at haters.

    “In what will come as a shock to exactly zero people, I’m using the last day of PRIDE to come out! Be proud of who you are, little babies! I know I am!” Amber Ruffin wrote.

    “And I can’t wait to be discriminated against for a new reason!!,” the comedian joked, along with a series of gay pride rainbow flags and a photo of her in a tank top with the word “Queer” written across it.

    The famous comedian’s announcement received support from a large number of proud Hollywood stars, including singer and actress Cynthi Erivo.

    ‘Welcome baby love!! The toilets are on the left, the refreshments on the right, grab a seat. The DJ is taking requests,” she wrote.

    ‘Yay!! Happy Pride, darling!! I hope you feel so loved and supported,” said Tan France of the Netflix series Queer Eye.

    ‘Welcome home Amber!! Our team keeps getting hotter and smarter!! Happy Pride, darling,” said actress Sophia Bush.

    ‘Happy pride!’ added both comedy great Wanda Sykes and Daily Show star Dulcé Sloan.

    Ruffin co-wrote a series of books with her sister Lacey Lamar and continues to be a regular contributor to Late Night with Seth Meyers in the “Jokes We Can’t Tell” segment.

    From 2020 to 2022, Ruffin hosted The Amber Ruffin Show on Peacock.

    She was married to Dutch painter Jan Schiltmeijer for 13 years. Their marriage ended last December.
