Kat Von D gives fans shock update on her ALL-BLACK tattoo cover-up transformation as she poses for dramatic shoot: ‘I knew I would end up tattooing my whole body’

Kat Von D couldn’t be more excited about her new tattoos as she posed for a shocking new photoshoot that saw her show off her all-black tattoo.

The 42-year-old – who first revealed in October that she would be covering up all of her colorful tattoos with solid black ink – spoke candidly about her decision in an interview with Ink Magazine.

The star also posed for a gorgeous photoshoot where she showed off her blackened arms and back.

“I think I’ve had enough of the tattoos that I’ve had over the years for a long time,” Kat confessed to the outlet, adding that she reached out to an artist, Hoode, who specializes in blackout tattoos to get the ball rolling.

“I just couldn’t explain how satisfying it was to see how much mess he cleaned up with his blackout tattoos,” the LA Ink alum recalled. “I think at the time I thought I was just going to blackout an arm, but soon after I knew I was going to eventually tattoo my entire body.”

Last fall, Kat posted a video of the blackout process on her Instagram feed, explaining that it took 17 sessions and nearly 40 hours of work to get “about 80% done with the blackout process of my body.”

The former reality star added a message to the trolls: “Maybe before you post negative comments you should remind yourself that what you think is ugly could be beautiful to someone else.”

Kat got rid of her old art, mainly because many of the tattoos “represented a part of my life that no longer fit who I am today.”

“Some people are fine with having these kinds of markers in time — I personally got tired of waking up with them and seeing those constant reminders every time I looked in the mirror,” the singer continued. “Also, I really like the aesthetic. I know it’s not for everyone, but it’s very satisfying for me to see a clean slate when I look at my arms.”

The first step in the blackout was to cover everything except the portrait of Kat’s father on her arm.

She then told her followers how good it felt “to finally cover up so many tattoos I had when I was a drinker.”

Kat admitted that they were ‘nothing to me but milestones in dark times’ and was afterwards very pleased with her new look, which was ‘nice and tidy’.

Nowadays, in addition to her new vibe, Kat is also focusing on making new music, something that was put on the back burner when she founded Kat Von D Beauty in 2008.

“Music has always been my biggest passion,” she explained, “but I think I let a decade or two get lost in filming TV shows and running my old makeup line. I don’t necessarily regret all the little empires I’ve built over the years, but there’s a part of me that wishes I had released my music a long time ago.”

And Kat wants her fans to know that this isn’t a passion she just made up.

“Of course people were skeptical when it came out that I was making music,” the artist recalls. “And I totally get it. There aren’t many great examples of people who have gone from the entertainment industry to music that can be taken seriously.”

She continued: ‘Right now we’re preparing for the release of the new album, followed by a few months of touring. Music is my main focus right now.’

Despite what others may say, Kat has developed a thick skin through her years of experience in the industry and does not listen to the voices of others when it comes to her profession.

“I think social media can generate more negative voices than positive voices, even though it’s a smaller percentage. But you just have to find a way to not let it bother you,” she shared. “Or at least not let it get to you.”

But that does not mean that the entrepreneur does not feel hurt or ‘somewhat offended’ by negative comments.

Kat added that she’s “mostly just annoyed by the ignorance of haters.”

The celebrity’s physical transformation isn’t the only makeover she’s undergone in recent years.

Not only did Kat move to Indiana with her husband Leafar Seyer (birth name Rafael Reyes) and their five-year-old son Leafar, she also renounced witchcraft and converted to Christianity in 2023.

“I’ve traded city life for a simple life in rural Indiana in the middle of nowhere, and I’m loving it,” she told the magazine. “We’ve bought a beautiful piece of land where we plan to set up our yard soon, once we’ve finished renovating our Victorian home.”

Kat, who got sober 17 years ago, also threw away all her books on witchcraft.

“I don’t want these crutches in my life anymore, and that’s really what I saw them as,” she continued. “I just want Jesus, and it’s a very narrow path. I feel like all these other things, these breathing techniques, or spell work, nature worship, all these things, are just crutches. They’re not really my answer.”

“And so,” Kat concluded, “I would rather eliminate all distractions. And this is exactly what works for me.”
