Chase star Jenny Ryan revealed her future as The Vixen on the ITV game show during an appearance on Good Morning Britain on Wednesday, as well as announcing an exciting career change.

Combining singing, comedy and storytelling, the 42-year-old multi-talented star will embark on the Out of the Box tour from September to November 2024, kicking off in Lichfield and ending in Stafford.

Although Jenny has stepped back from her fiery role on the quiz show and has embarked on her own tour, she has delighted fans of The Chase by confirming that she will definitely be returning to the show.

But the TV personality also admitted it’s scary to show her ‘softer’ side, compared to the ‘strict’ Chaser she’s been called.

Speaking to presenters Ed Balls, Ranvir Singh and entertainment reporter Scarlette Douglas, Jenny said: ‘We brought the show to Edinburgh Fringe last year on a whim.

‘It’s a big risk to do something like that, as presenters know, after a strict role and you’re trying something new, it’s a bit of a challenge for people to change their expectations and perceptions of you.

‘Putting myself out there to show a softer side of myself – putting everything out there, my background, everything… was a bit of a risk. We sold everything [at the Fringe] and we got such good feedback on it.’

Ranvir jumped in to ask, “Jenny, can I ask… are you worried? Because you’re probably going back to The Chase? Are you worried that people will be less afraid of you because they’ve seen a softer side of you?”

The star laughed and enthusiastically announced that she would return after her performances.

The tour description for Jenny’s Out of the Box reads: ‘Jenny Ryan – best known as the dream-smashing brain-twirler The Vixen on the hit ITV quiz show The Chase – breaks away from teatime television and invites you to an evening of song, storytelling and even a few showbiz secrets.

‘Join Jenny on a journey through her life and times through some of her favourite songs, sung live with the powerful voice that blew the X Factor Celebrity judges away.’

Her decision to embark on this new career adventure follows her participation in X Factor: Celebrity in 2019.

She wowed the judges and audience with her amazing vocals and Jenny brought the house down when she sang a spine-chilling version of Adele’s Skyfall during the show.

Jenny initially failed to make it through to the live shows, but in a shocking 180 degree turnaround, the judges reversed their decision and allowed the quiz queen to return to the ITV competition to compete against the other acts.

After the first choice was made, the judges sat down again to evaluate the celebrities’ performances.

Speaking about the change, Nicole said: ‘Jenny was just brilliant at her audition in LA. Her voice is unique and she’s a great person to get to know. So it was a really hard decision to make.

“After much discussion we all agreed that we had to let her suffer. The Overs are going to crush it this year!”

With this career move, Jenny follows in the footsteps of fellow Chaser Anne Hegarty, who announced in April that she has been cast in a short film and will be swapping the ITV quiz show for the big screen.

The 65-year-old TV personality said filming would begin later this year and she would use her pantomime experience to make her on-camera debut.

She told the Daily Star: ‘I’ve been asked to be in the film and I’ve decided to go for it. We’re going to be making it over the next few months.’

“I don’t think I’ll be nervous. It’s not in front of an audience. If it was, I’d think, ‘Oh my God, am I going to forget my lines?’ But because there won’t be an audience watching, I’m not worried.”

Anne, who has starred as The Governess on the ITV show since 2010, also revealed whether her new role would mean she would leave the series.

She told the publication: ‘I have no plans to retire. [The Chase is] the little workhorse that makes everything possible, and I do it with great pleasure.

“It’s the best job I’ve ever had, so I’m happy to keep doing it as long as they need me.”
