George Russell performed superbly in front of his home crowd by taking a superb pole position for the British Grand Prix.

The Englishman kept his cool during the wet/dry qualifying session at Silverstone to beat team-mate Lewis Hamilton by 0.171s as Mercedes occupied the front row.

McLaren’s Lando Norris completed a British one-two-three with an expected crowd of 160,000 for Sunday’s race.
