The mysterious case of a gorilla statue being abducted from a care home has been solved after sharp-eyed officers spotted the statue in the garden of a Melbourne home during a police flight.
‘Garry’, the 1.5 metre tall gorilla statue, disappeared from Leith Park retirement home in St Helena’s northern suburbs a month ago.
After an extensive investigation, Victoria Police have now focused on a home in Reservoir.
The Air Wing was called out to fly a secret flight over Garry, who was languishing in the estate garden.
On Monday, the silverback was taken into custody by police after a search of the home.
Greensborough police will return Garry to the nursing home entrance on Wednesday as investigations into the crime continue.
