He’s appeared in gritty dramas, baking shows, documentaries, soaps and game shows, but there’s one show Danny Dyer will never appear on.

The 46-year-old former EastEnders actor says he is asked to take part in Strictly Come Dancing every year, but turns down the invitation because it’s just ‘not for him’.

Speak with The sunthe TV star revealed the reason why he would never agree to a role in the beloved BBC show.

In true Danny style, he told the paper: ‘I get offered to do Strictly every year and it’s not for me. I don’t fancy walking around in sequins.’

While it’s certainly not a show that involves dancing, the father of three admitted he’s still looking for his “ultimate” career-defining role.

He mused: ‘The obvious role I’d like to play is James Bond, you know, a Cockney Bond.

‘Or maybe I’d like to do Doctor Who, a film that’s been done by a lot of different actors, and put my own spin on it.’

In a change from his usual roles, the soap star performed a stirring cover of Parklife with Robbie Williams and a Beefeaters band during his London gig on Saturday night.

The 50-year-old pop star gave fans a look back at his lengthy career during his sold-out show at American Express presents BST Hyde Park, where he invited Danny to duet on the Blur classic, taking on the spoken roles of fellow actor Phil Daniels.

Robbie then invited Danny to join him for the final Britpop number of the segment, joking: “They’re the duo you didn’t know you needed in your life.”

Danny recently played the role of Freddie Jones, a self-made electronics millionaire, in the new Disney+ drama Rivals.

The upcoming film adaptation of Jilly Cooper’s iconic novel features an all-star cast including Aiden Turner, David Tennant, Emily Atack, Katherine Parkinson, Oliver Chris and Claire Rushbrook.

Disney+ released an extravagant trailer last month, and it looks like there’s a lot of racy scenes in it.

According to Disney+, Rivals is a “joyous, naughty rollercoaster ride, filled with steamy love stories and packed with lifelike characters.”

The streaming service continues to insist it offers a “2020 lens into the 1980s” and a “pure exploration of a complicated moment in British history, when class, race, gender, wealth and sexual liberation meant that for a very privileged minority there were no limits to what they could achieve.”

Danny seemed completely removed from the world as he walked into the trailer wearing a long, dark wig and a bushy moustache.

The series will premiere later this year on Hulu in the US and on Disney+ in other countries.
