Caitlin Clark targeted by Angel Reese and Chennedy Carter before WNBA All-Star game

It looks like Caitlin Clark isn’t getting a chance at the moment, as she was targeted by rivals Chennedy Carter and Angel Reese after she was criticized for backing out of the WNBA All-Star’s Game 3-point contest.

The 22-year-old Fever guard was not directly mentioned in Carter and Reese’s online social media exchange hours before Saturday’s WNBA All-Star game, but Carter hinted that she will only be watching the high-profile matchup against the U.S. women’s basketball team at the Olympics to see her Chicago Sky teammate play.

“Just looking at Barbie #WNBAAllStar,” Carter posted on X.

Reese replied, “You should have been here, but I’m playing CHENDOLL for you today!”

In June, Carter, a guard, defeated Clark in a thrilling 71-70 loss to the Fever.

Not only was the foul called by the judge, but after the game Clark described the gesture as “just not basketball action.”

She added: “But you know, I have to play through it, that’s what basketball at this level is all about.”

Carter refused to answer questions about Clark or the play after the game.

“I’m a competitor and I’m going to compete no matter who you are and no matter who’s in front of me. So that’s just it,” Carter said. “Heat-of-the-moment game. We go at it. We go back and forth. It’s basketball. It’s all hoops. After we finish the game, it’s all love.”

Reese was fined $1,000 for not making herself available to reporters after the game.

Later in June, Clark said Carter did not need to apologize for her egregious transgression.

“People are competitive,” she said. “It is what it is, and she’s having a great season. She’s played great basketball, probably in my eyes, number one for Sixth Player of the Year. … There’s no hard feelings. There’s nothing like that. It’s a sport. It’s competitive. It’s not always going to be fun.”

However, Reese and Clark arguably have the most intense rivalry in the WNBA, after the two rivals clashed in college.
