Alex Jones was replaced on Tuesday’s edition of The One Show by Vernon Kay.

The 47-year-old TV presenter did not appear on the BBC evening show, shortly after announcing in an emotional Instagram post that she is moving.

Vernon, 50, took over the reins of the famous green bank alongside Lauren Laverne, 46, in a previously unannounced change.

The duo, who replaced the regular presenters from Monday, were joined by the cast of tornado blockbuster Twisters, including Daisy Edgar-Jones, Glen Powell and Anthony Ramos, as well as comedy alumnus Alan Carr.

Although Alex didn’t officially announce her absence, nor was her absence mentioned on the show, it seemed to coincide with the star’s move.

The BBC star kept her Instagram followers updated on her journey by sharing a clip on Sunday.

Alex, who has been a regular presenter on The One Show since 2010, admitted it was an “emotional” time for her as she prepared to leave her former home of 11 years.

“This was emotional. After 11 years WE ARE MOVING. I would love some packing tips??,” she captioned the clip, seeking advice from her fans.

She told the camera, “Here’s a little news: we’re moving! Aggggh!

“I find it a bit emotional.”

The presenter then showed numerous stacks of boxes and went through sentimental pieces, such as a baby book and a children’s memory box.

She took a trip back in time, picked up another large box and said, ‘This one is a mammoth. It’s a child’s artwork. And there are many of them.

Alex then showed the items she was giving away, including a soft hat, and grabbed a party box.

As the presenter took on the gruelling task of packing, she candidly admitted: ‘I don’t know myself. For the first time in my life, I don’t know where my stuff is.’

Last month, Alex was photographed enjoying a rare date night in Mayfair with her husband Charlie Thomson.

The host has been happily married to the insurance broker for nine years and together they have sons Teddy, seven, Kit, five, and daughter Annie, three.

They had enjoyed dinner at Bacchanalia and were joined by Declan Donnelly and his wife Ali Astall.

Both couples were on hand to celebrate Katherine Jenkins’ upcoming 43rd birthday with an elegant dinner.

Alex’s husband Charlie appeared to be in good spirits after battling physical and mental health issues.

In 2023, Alex revealed that her husband Charlie had become a “shadow of himself” as he struggled with his mental health. She said she had watched him “fall apart” after becoming seriously ill with Lyme disease and viral meningitis.

Alex told Gabby Logan on her podcast The center point: ‘I think what drives me is the fact that we have three young children and I feel like I have to do my best to provide for them.

“My mom and dad have always been healthy. We’ve always had a balanced diet growing up, but Charlie and I focus on that more than anything.”

Asked how he is doing now, Alex replied: ‘He is good, yes. He is in a much better position now than he was a year ago, but diet has played a big part in that. We always eat relatively well, but he is quite focused on nutrition.

She said she struggles to understand Charlie’s mental health issues and has been honest with him in long conversations.

She said, ‘He’s trying to explain it, and I said, “Do you think I’m a terrible person because I don’t fully understand it?” And he says, “No, but because you’re trying to understand it, I love you for it.” But he said it’s hard to fully understand it.’

“I listen to a lot of podcasts that talk about depression in depth. And sometimes I think if you’re really depressed — and I’ve seen that over the last few months — you’re not okay enough to be on a podcast. And I don’t know where we are.

‘You feel the pressure, because suddenly you are the breadwinner, the functioning parent.

‘You are now solely responsible for the administration of your life, and on top of that, the person you love most is collapsing before your eyes. You are trying to get him or her back on track, without really knowing how to do it.’

‘I wouldn’t go into detail because Charlie is a very private person, but I think it’s worth sharing because it blows your mind as a family – not just the person who experiences it, but the person who then has to deal with the aftermath of the whole thing. It’s really, really bad.’
