COLUMBIA, Maryland — One person was killed in a shooting at a shopping mall in a suburb of Baltimore and Washington on Saturday, police said.
Authorities responded to a call of gunfire in the food court area of a shopping mall in Columbia, Maryland, around 6:10 p.m. Officers found a male victim who had been fatally shot, according to Howard County police.
Police have determined that the individuals involved in the shooting fled the mall. Detectives believe the victim was the target.
Authorities say the investigation is still ongoing.
In January 2014, the mall was also the site of a shooting spree, leaving three people dead after a man wielding a shotgun shot two people and then himself.
