This is the terrifying moment an Air Canada Boeing plane catches fire seconds after takeoff.
Video footage shows the plane gaining altitude before a light flashes from the right engine and the tail of the plane bursts into flames – the result of a small explosion.
The terrifying ordeal took place 30 minutes after departure as the plane left Toronto Pearson Airport on its way to Paris, France, on Wednesday evening.
Witnesses on the ground were shocked when one of them was heard saying, “Holy crap! There’s an engine fire!,’ The sun reported.
No crew members or the 389 passengers on the flight were injured. The crew landed the plane safely.

According to a company representative, the fire was due to a problem with the engine’s compressor.
They further stated that “the aircraft will be removed from service for further evaluation by our maintenance and engineering professionals.”
The airline told news station CP24 that after “the aircraft landed, it was inspected by airport response vehicles according to normal operating processes, and it taxied to the gate under its own power.”
The aircraft is inspected and repaired before being used again.
Flight tracker FlightAware said the plane left the gate at 8.46pm but circled back and landed at the same airport at 9.50pm.
Passengers were placed on another flight later that evening, airline officials said.
The plane took off at about 8:46 p.m. on Wednesday before making an emergency landing at 9:50 p.m.

According to Global News, this was the second incident to occur shortly after takeoff at Toronto Pearson Airport in the past two weeks.
On May 27, a flight took off from Toronto Delhi, India experienced an engine problem that forced the aircraft to reroute.
According to Media Drum World, the Boeing 777-300ER aircraft has been with the airline since March 2008.
Air Canada has 19 of these aircraft, all of which are in active service.
