Channel Seven’s new show Stranded On Romantic Island has been boldly tipped to be even bigger than Married At First Sight.

The ‘extreme’ reality dating show sees single participants spend three weeks together on a desert island with a potential partner in the search for love.

As anticipation builds for its release later this year, the show is claimed: made by the same producers as Channel Nine’s MAFS, could be Aussie TV’s next big thing.

According to an insider, the premiere of the new series has been postponed because the network is ‘throwing’ even more money into its production.

Speak with Yahoo Australiathe source suggested the extra money was aimed at competing with Channel Nine’s big reality TV hits such as MAFS and The Block.

They shared, “When you hand out your checkbook to the highest-paid female radio host in the country, you know you have confidence in your product.”

A steamy trailer for the upcoming show introduces the twelve single men and women who hope to find love while abandoned on a remote island in the South Pacific.

The video promises an equal mix of romance and adventure, as the cast works to form romances while battling the elements.

One scene shows a new bride and groom literally diving off a yacht into crystal clear water and then kissing passionately underwater.

Another tense moment involved a woman confronting her male companion and asking why he is “in a relationship on the outside.”

“Are we on Romantic Island… or Nightmare Island?” asked another cast member.

It looks to be a gripping reality series that combines the romance and drama of Married At First Sight with the adventure and excitement of Australian Survivor.

Angus Ross, Seven’s head of programming, said of the show: ‘We’re taking the reality dating genre to a whole new addictive level.

‘It combines young love with the adventure of a lifetime. We have no doubt that viewers will enjoy every minute of this bold and exciting new format.”

Elsewhere, the show’s narrator, Jackie, was recently forced to face a report that she ‘stole’ Ada Nicodemou’s job after her own mother asked her about the rumours.

On The Kyle And Jackie O Show, Jackie said her mother sent her an article from New Idea claiming that she had cut off Ada’s job on Beach on Honeymoon Island.

Jackie highlighted the rumors: “I actually don’t even know if that story is true, to be honest.”

Jackie explained that Ada had given a first look at the series at last year’s Seven ‘Upfronts’ event, which many believed was a sign of her involvement with the show.

But Jackie insisted she didn’t believe that was why Ada, 47, was ever promised to host or narrate the series.

“Because she presented that she’s, I mean, a Seven personality, they assumed that she would then host that show or narrate that show,” Jackie said.

“I don’t think they got the story right at all.”

Co-host Kyle Sandilands, 52, agreed with Jackie, adding that Ada was “never in the running for [the job]’.

A source close to the situation suggested that the decision to bring Jackie on board may have been driven by company strategy.

“It makes good business sense for Seven to hire Jackie for Romantic Island,” the source explained.

‘Seven bosses probably know that shows like MAFS get a lot of airtime on KIIS airwaves and were smart to bring Kyle in for Australian Idol where he could increase his involvement. Now they have Jackie to ensure that Romantic Island will hopefully be a ratings hit.’
