    “Mia told officers she went to the home with the intention of killing her parents” and was seen on surveillance camera footage entering the home.

    Several shell casings were found on the first floor of the house, near the stairs and also in the front room.

    According to arrest documents, Bailey admitted to entering the home and shooting her mother almost immediately.

    The body of Gail Bailey, 69, was found on the first floor, while her husband’s body was found in the hallway leading to the master bedroom.

    Washington City police say Bailey’s father, Joseph, 70, was shot twice, while her mother was hit four times.

    “When she entered the house, she almost immediately started shooting at her mother. Mia stated that her father… heard the shots and started walking towards her. Mia stated that she shot her father in the head and he immediately fell to the ground,” the affidavit alleges.

    After firing the first shots, police returned upstairs and fired again.

    ‘Mia described returning to her father who was lying on the ground and shooting him again in the head to make sure he was dead. As she did so, Mia walked back to her mother and shot her in the head to make sure she was dead,” police wrote in the affidavit.

    After allegedly killing her parents, Bailey fired a shot through the bedroom door where her brother and his wife had locked themselves.

    When officers arrived at the home, they found the door slightly ajar.

    A search for Bailey continued throughout the night, involving officers from the Washington Police Department, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and the Utah Department of Public Safety.

    Helicopters were used in the search for her before she was eventually found walking in a nearby ravine. She tried to evade capture by hiding in the bushes.

    Bailey was filmed being led away by seven armed officers in Washington City on Wednesday afternoon.

    Her arrest ended a 16-hour search after officers were called to reports of shots fired at the family home, where officers found her slaughtered parents.
