Jude Bellingham and his teammates posed as Real Madrid unveiled their new home kit for the upcoming 2024-2025 season.

The Spanish giants are the talk of the transfer window after finally ending one of football’s longest sagas by confirming the signing of Kylian Mbappe on Monday evening.

The news comes after the 2018 World Cup winner decided not to activate a one-year extension with Paris Saint-Germain and instead fulfill a boyhood dream by playing at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Now, ahead of his debut season in Spain, Madrid have released their redesigned home shirt that Mbappe will wear once he joins the club.

The likes of Bellingham, Eder Militao, David Alaba and Linda Caicedo all posed for photos in the new kit, which features a striking houndstooth pattern.

The kit offers a minimalist look that speaks to the long-standing legacy of the Spanish giants as they enter a new era of the club under Mbappe.

Interestingly, the shirt also features a seasonal V-neck collar and minimal black detailing woven throughout the adidas logo on the shirt.

On the club website, the authentic version of the new shirt will cost fans £148, while the non-authentic version is available for £97.

Although it has not yet been officially confirmed by the club, Mbappe is expected to don the number 9 shirt when he joins Madrid later this summer.

It is claimed that Mbappe and his Real Madrid camp did not ask for the number 10 shirt due to his respect for Luka Modric.

Modric has been Real Madrid’s number 10 since the 2017/2018 season, having previously been worn by James Rodriguez and Mesut Ozil during his first five seasons at the club. Until 2017 he wore shirt No. 19.

The Croatian midfielder, now 38, was due to see his contract expire this summer before signing a new one-year contract with a lower salary.

Modric has accepted a more secondary role at the club this season but has opted to stay at the club, unlike Toni Kroos who will retire after this summer’s European Championship.

However, by wearing the number 9, he would be following in the footsteps of some of the iconic players who graced the Santiago Bernabeu.

The most recent player to wear the shirt is his former France international teammate Karim Benzema – who represented the number for 13 years between 2010 and 2013.

Before that, Cristiano Ronaldo wore the shirt during his first season at the club.

The Portuguese star, now at Al-Nassr, has now found himself in a similar situation to Mbappe as he opted out of his preferred number 7 shirt due to his respect for Real Madrid legend Raul.

The Spanish striker left in 2010, giving Ronaldo the opportunity to subsequently take over as number 7.
