Molly-Mae Haag reflected candidly on Saturday about her ‘filler scandal’ as she celebrated almost five years of being ‘injection free’.

The former Love Island contestant, 25, has been documenting her filler removal since 2020 and has spoken about how “blessed” she feels to be able to “fix” the excessive amount of filler she has applied to her face.

Molly-Mae previously admitted she didn’t recognize herself when she reached the age of 21 after undergoing several cosmetic procedures.

She has now had her lip and jaw filler dissolved and her composite bonding veneers removed, and said she was ‘terrified for herself’ when she looked at previous photos.

In her Instagram Story, the TV personality excitedly said she’s “come a long way” on her “filler journey.”

Molly-Mae explained: ‘Recently I had a moment of reflection on my filler journey and I realize that in five years, well over four years now, I won’t have had any filler.

“I haven’t had filler put in my face yet, and if you remember my filler debacle and my filler scandal, that’s not quite an achievement, but it’s quite a journey to think about. It was so long ago.’

Promoting a new product from L’oreal, she added: ‘I recently fell in love with a new skincare product and I really feel like it’s products like these that have helped me on this journey and turned me away from injectables withheld. ‘

Molly-Mae had her lips injected for the first time when she was just 18 years old and said it caused a ‘vicious cycle’ of topping up the treatment.

In May last year, she said she looked five years younger after her lip and jaw filler dissolved.

She continued The diary of a CEO with podcast Steven Bartlett: ‘I wouldn’t say I got addicted to it, but at 21 I didn’t look like the same person anymore.

‘I literally looked like a different person. When I look back at the photos now, I’m terrified for myself. I’m thinking, “Who was that girl?” I do not know what happened.

“But there was a pivotal moment where I got a ton of filler and posted a YouTube video and I hadn’t let the filler settle and it was really swollen and a screenshot of that video trended on Twitter for weeks.”

The influencer continued: “It was horrible. It was downright terrible. My face was literally like, it was just horrible. That was also the moment for me when I thought: I think things have to change.

‘I thought: one day I’ll have my lips dissolved. It was a process. I went to get my lips dissolved and I posted about it on YouTube and I didn’t expect the response I got. It was huge.’

She explained: ‘From the moment I started reversing my image and dissolving the filler and dissolving my lips, I actually had a full set of composite bonds on my teeth, which I also had removed.

“I literally took it to the extreme and I just stripped myself naked and strangely enough, when it was all gone, I felt the most beautiful thing I’d ever felt.

“I feel like I lost about five years off my age and it was like it was a really, really important moment for me.

‘I didn’t realize how much respect that would bring me. I didn’t do it out of respect, I did it for myself. I didn’t do it for anyone else, I did it because I knew it was necessary.’

Molly-Mae recently took to her Instagram Stories to show off her transformation when she shared a photo of herself taken at Winter Wonderland in London in 2019.

She followed it up with a photo taken at this year’s festive event after she had her fillers dissolved.

“Tap to age me two years…” she captioned the first photo, which showed her wrapped in a brown wool jacket while enjoying a box of Churros.

In the second photo, Molly-Mae had more dramatically arched eyebrows as she wore the same jacket, teamed with a white turtleneck top and dark gray jeans.

The influencer has documented her decision to adopt a more natural look by sharing videos explaining the step.

She said: ‘I feel like I’m still going through the process of trying to make everything as natural as possible.

‘I made so many mistakes when I was younger that I’m still trying to correct them now.

‘I went that far a few years ago. It’s not just a few appointments to correct the mistakes I’ve made.”

The social media star also revealed that she only had her fillers dissolved ‘randomly’ as she originally only planned on laser hair removal.

She said that in addition to the hair removal procedure, she “also booked a consultation to talk about getting rid of the rest of the filler that I think is still in my face, and after I decided to just go ahead and get it done ‘ Today’.

Molly-Mae revealed the results of another filler dissolving procedure in a YouTube video in October 2020.

At the start of the video, the reality star showed fans what her lips looked like before the dissolution, as she admitted she was ‘very nervous’ about going to Leeds for the procedure.

Molly-Mae said: ‘I remember my lips before the filling, there was nothing. I literally had no lips!

‘Notice how unnatural, how much filler, they feel very hard. It’s just time for them to go!

Molly-Mae revealed she had a total of about 5ml of filler in her lips and the last time she had it topped up was in 2019.

The reality star showed the dissolving process taking place and admitted that the surgeon had to use a “record level” amount of dissolving agent.

In another YouTube video, Molly-Mae said: ‘I’m so scared for the children growing up now. At 18, I felt I had to do that. For kids growing up now, they’re going to think this is the norm.”

Molly-Mae revealed she was cruelly taunted by online trolls about the shape of her jaw, and joked that it looked like she had ‘jaws’ when she now sees old photos of herself.

‘You’ll look worse in the long run. What it did was make it look bigger. It looked like I had cheeks. I had ‘square head’, ‘dumbass’.

‘People called me Quagmire van [Family Guy]. The worst part is that I look like an X-Box controller!’
