Ishana Night Shyamalan and Georgina Campbell Discuss “The Watchers,” Scream Queens, and Favorite Movie Twists

New Line Cinema is set to captivate audiences worldwide with the upcoming thriller “The Watchers,” a film adaptation of A.M. Shine’s novel, brought to the screen by writer-director Ishana Night Shyamalan. The film, produced by M. Night Shyamalan, Ashwin Rajan, and Nimitt Mankad, promises a chilling experience when it opens internationally on June 5, 2024, and in North America on June 7, 2024.

“The Watchers” follows the harrowing journey of Mina, a 28-year-old artist played by Dakota Fanning, known for her roles in “Ripley” and “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.” Stranded in an expansive, untouched forest in western Ireland, Mina seeks refuge, only to discover she is not alone. She finds herself in the company of three strangers, all of whom are under the constant surveillance of unseen, mysterious creatures that stalk them each night.

Joining Fanning are Georgina Campbell (“Barbarian,” “Suspicion”), Olwen Fouéré (“The Northman,” “The Tourist”), and Oliver Finnegan (“Creeped Out,” “Outlander”), forming a stellar cast that is set to bring this eerie tale to life.

In an exclusive interview, director Ishana Night Shyamalan shared her inspiration for the project, revealing that she was immediately drawn to A.M. Shine’s novel and envisioned its cinematic potential from the first moment she opened the book. She also shared her top four films with the best twists, giving fans a glimpse into the creative mind behind her debut feature film.

Georgina Campbell also spoke about her experience working with Ishana, praising her directorial debut and revealing some of her favorite scream queens, adding to the excitement and anticipation surrounding the film.

The production boasts an impressive behind-the-camera team, including director of photography Eli Arenson (“Lamb,” “Hospitality”), production designer Ferdia Murphy (“Lola,” “Finding You”), editor Job ter Burg (“Benedetta,” “Elle”), and costume designer Frank Gallacher (“Sebastian,” “Aftersun”). The chilling score is composed by Abel Korzeniowski (“Till,” “The Nun”), with Susan Jacobs (“Old,” “Cruella”) serving as the music supervisor.
