High waves battered Bangsaen Beach in Chon Buri province yesterday, scattering debris across the coastline, and disrupting local businesses as seawater overflowed during the high tide.
Heavy rainfall flooded Bangsaen Beach and the Wonnapha-Bangsaen Beach Road in Saensuk sub-district, Mueang Chon Buri district. Waves reached over 1 metre, discouraging beachgoers from enjoying the beach.
Fortunately, as of today, Bangsaen Beach has returned to its usual, calm state. However, the high tide left behind substantial debris, prompting Saensuk Municipality to dispatch a team of workers to clean up the beach this morning.
The municipality reported that over 90% of the debris had already been cleared, with the remaining cleanup efforts expected to be completed today.
A local beach chair rental operator, 60 year old Prakrit Waewphech, shared with local media that in over a decade of working at Bangsaen Beach, he had never seen such high waves and strong winds. He mentioned that his business suffered due to the lack of tourists but remains hopeful that conditions will soon return to normal, reported Pattaya News.
The prompt response from the municipal workers ensured that the beach was swiftly cleaned, aiming to restore it to its pristine condition for visitors. The efficient cleanup operation is part of ongoing efforts to maintain the attractiveness and safety of Bangsaen Beach for both locals and tourists.
In similar news, lifeguards have raised red no-swimming flags along Patong Beach, urging all residents and tourists to avoid entering the water. This follows a notice issued yesterday by Phuket Vice Governor Sattha Thongkham, acting on behalf of the governor of Phuket.
In separate news, immigration police in Pattaya detained numerous undocumented workers from Laos and Vietnam following complaints from locals. The operation, conducted on June 24 at a market in Soi Phonprapanimit, Nongprue sub-district, Banglamung district, Chon Buri province, aimed to address concerns about foreign workers allegedly taking jobs from Thai citizens.
