    Celebrities paid tribute to Hollywood legend Donald Sutherland after his death at the age of 88.

    Nancy Sinatra used X, formerly Twitter, to commemorate the iconic actor.

    “This hurts,” she tweeted. “godspeed, Donald Sutherland,” along with a broken heart emoji.

    The late actor died Thursday in Miami after a long illness, his management said.

    The 24 star said his father Donald, 88, “loved what he did and did what he loved” as he announced his death on Thursday.

    ‘It is with a heavy heart that I inform you that my father, Donald Sutherland, has passed away. I personally think I am one of the most important actors in film history,” Kiefer further said Instagram.

    ‘Never daunted by a role, good, bad or ugly. He loved what he did and did what he loved, and you can never ask for more than that. A life well lived.’

    Kiefer – who went on to emulate his father with starring roles in films like Flatliners and Designated Survivor – shared a heartwarming image of himself as a young boy alongside his father during his heyday.

    Donald’s career in Hollywood spanned decades, including appearances in The Hunger Games and the 1970s horror film Don’t Look Now.

    He won a number of awards for his eclectic range of film and TV roles, including a Supporting Actor Emmy for Citizen X in 1995.

    Sutherland also received nine separate Golden Globe nominations for hits such as M*A*S*H and Ordinary People, winning two.

    His most recent appearance was last year as Judge Parker in Lawmen: Bass Reeves, and he was set to star in the upcoming apocalyptic film Heart Land, which is in pre-production.

    After Kiefer led the tributes announcing his father’s passing, a number of big names honored his timeless career.

    Broadcaster Piers Morgan said he was “one of my favorite actors of all time who played so many great roles.” What a sad loss.’

    Director Ron Howard, who worked with Sutherland on the film Backdraft, said he was “blessed” to have directed the icon.

    ‘One of the most intelligent, interesting and compelling film actors of all time. “Incredible reach, creative courage and dedication to serving the story and the audience with ultimate excellence,” he said said.

    British filmmaker Edgar Wright, known for hits such as Shaun of the Dead and Baby Driver, praised Sutherland as a “fascinating screen presence.”

    “A funny, laconic, but also intense and dramatic presence in so many memorable films,” he says said on X.

    “I’m sorry you’re leaving, Donald, but what a legacy you leave behind.”

    House of the Dragon star James Dreyfus added that Sutherland was a “staple of my life through incredible performances.”
