Caitlin Clark returns to the court after she was brutally BODYCHECKED by Chennedy Carter as her Indiana Fever teammates are slammed

Caitlin Clark was back on the court Sunday night as the fallout from Chennedy Carter’s brutal body check continued.

Clark was knocked to the ground by the Chicago Sky’s Carter near the end of the third quarter of the Indiana Fever WNBA game on Saturday.

TV replays showed Carter shouting “you b***h” at Clark before pushing her to the ground.

Clark ultimately had the last laugh – her team held on for a one-point victory and the 71-70 victory was the team’s first home win of the season.

She returned to action on Sunday when the Fever took on the New York Liberty, while Clark was in good spirits as she warmed up at Barclays Center.

But her Fever teammates are being criticized for not doing more to “protect” the WNBA’s star player.

The Warriors’ Draymond Green wrote in the comments section of an ESPNW post on Instagram, “Indiana better start investing in an enforcer… FAST!”

Former NBA forward Matt Barnes also weighed in on the Fever’s need to protect Clark.

“I mean, she’s been getting beat up all season,” he began in one Instagram message, as noted by the New York Post. “Hard screens, elbows, knockdowns,” Barnes said. ‘It is what it is; She’s not the first, she won’t be the last. My problem and my question is: where are her teammates? Where are you? Where’s the rest of the Indiana Fever?

Barnes, who played with the likes of Kobe Bryant, Blake Griffin and Chris Paul throughout his career, was an enforcer herself at times and believes Clark’s teammates should stand up for her more.

Clark and Carter clashed Saturday as the Fever defeated the Sky in a tough battle

“I’ve seen some girls grin when she gets knocked down, half-ass trying to pick her up. For example, you have to protect the property, protect the star. And even though this is a team, you always protect your star. I was someone who protected the stars. You fuck with Kobe, [Chris Paul]Blake [Griffin]’, the list goes on, it’s going to be a problem.’

While Carter declined to answer questions about Clark after Sky’s loss on Saturday, she had plenty to say on social media afterward.

Carter wrote of Clark on Threads: “…besides three-point shooting, whatever does that [Clark] bring to the table man.’

She also alluded to her feud with Clark in her own Instagram Story, writing, “I grew up with all brothers. All we did was fight and argue. I love the hate more than the love that y’all don’t understand. I’d rather you hate me [than] love me and I mean that to my late aunt.”

Clark’s Fever went into halftime against the Liberty on Sunday trailing 55-37, with Clark scoring just three points in that period.
