Bae Yong-Jun plays the role of a scholar and martial artist Cho-Won who is a notorious ladies man; he has slept with many women and abandoned them. In the first scene of the movie he is painting a nude woman on a canvas while Lady Chung is rewarded by the state for being a good Confucianist.
Lady Chung has observed her chastity for nine years after the demise of her husband. Cho-Won fixes his mind on her as his next target. He reveals this strategy to his cousin, Lady Cho (Lee Mi-Sook), his first lover who is now a married woman and cheating on her husband with many men.
Lady Cho has her own task for Cho-Won: to virginize So-ok (Lee So-yeon) – a lovely young lady whose faith is to become her husband’s harem. They conclude their conversation with a bet: If Cho-Won can sleep with Lady Chung then he can sleep with Lady Cho.
Why Dangerous Liaisons is Such a Universal Story? The drama reveals many of the negative aspects of sexual contact when the soul is engaged.
This is a sexual politics story where Cho- Won who is totally self- absorbed and uses all his skills and manoeuvres to get Lady Chung who is a strict Catholic and follows charity as her religion to adore and respect him.
But as they say, what goes around, comes around. At the time when his relationship with Lady Chung comes to an end, Cho-Won starts feeling things he has never felt before.

In ‘Untold Scandal’ there is no satisfactory victor’s justice where those who are responsible for causing the miseries pay for it. Rather, it closes with the feeling of disappointment and dejection.
This is however effective but doesn’t have the impact this story can have. The last part is not as powerful as it could have been, however, as a whole, the movie faithfully translates the book.
The film remained a prankster and contains many scenes of a strong sexual nature, which are only vital to this story. Its costuming and production design are absolutely flawless. “Untold Scandal” is a beautiful movie and very engaging despite its departure from the novel.
Those who do not know the original by the novelistic or Frears’ cinematic version might not think that the ending of ‘Untold Scandal’ is too week. Still, if you have, it would be almost impossible to escape that perception. It is, on the whole, a good film but somewhat suffers by being compared so directly with so many other adaptations.
It has breathtaking camera works, accurate costumes and it is well acted. Even though other drama versions might make the ending less thrilling for those who are interested in the story initially, “Untold Scandal” remains precious for the original setting and brilliant reinterpretation of the cultural codes for fans and new comers of the story.
